![]() There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing. The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker. "Looks like it's time to get started after all! To all our guests, have a magical morning! Dream big and have fun, but don't forget to look for the body! We'll see you in the afternoon at the Hall of Mirrors when it's time to vote, okay?" You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. Somewhere in the park, you'll find the body of Malik Ishtar. character statuses private conversations graveyard Voting will close at 10 PM EST on Sept 24. Though a special comment for discussion will go up shortly before voting, you are encouraged to discuss who to vote for throughout the day. |

Malik Ishtar
You can look at the bracelet on the corpse - it flashes Malik's name and dorm mascot, but shows nothing else. The bracelet has gone tight around the wrist, almost as though it injected something into his body; you can see the veins standing out in his arm and the arm is swollen and inflamed. The body's face is pale and has a look of asphyxiation, but that's only what's left of the face. Because the most obvious cause of death is the wound in the chest - it's as if a small explosive embedded in there detonated, causing a bloody mess and taking the lower half of Malik's jaw with it.
Malik Ishtar is no longer among us.]

Records indicate that this is Malik Ishtar. Cause of death unclear.

[Mahiru knew this would happen. Her shout is a lamentation instead of complete confusion. With shaking hands she takes a single photo of the corpse, then steps back as the bracelet starts beeping.
In such a large crowd, there was never any doubt that someone would die... or that someone else would perform guard duty.
Investigation Question #1: are there drag marks on the body? Or footprints, like Malik and someone else walked here? Maybe an impact like he's been dropped? Does he really look like his body appeared out of nowhere?]

PAPER DELIVERY
Bunbunmaru Newspaper, Dreamland Murder Game Special Edition
Season 129, 1st of Nagatsuki
A High Stakes Game of Deceit and Playing Roles
Frantic victims ride teacups, ponder chopping off own limbs
As summer transitions into fall, many seek ways to maximize enjoyment of the warm season before the cold hits by, for instance, visiting parks and other attractions. However, one group of mysterious kidnappers finds a new and radical way to maximize their enjoyment of the waning summer by minimizing that of their 40-odd kidnappees who now constitute the readership of this paper.
Unwilling visitors to Dreamland Fun Park spent the morning exploring, spinning in enormous ceramic-shaped machineries, or vainly protesting against having their pictures taken of this memorable occasion. An unknown speaker over the intercom revealed the true intent behind this unwelcome forced vacation later that afternoon.
' You see, all of here were brought here to be our guests [...] but the truth is, seven of you are actually special VIP guests with special perks!
VIP guest perks include being permitted in the park at night, getting access to exclusive areas, exciting snack and drink service, and permission to murder one regular guest every night. Fun! '
Parkgoers immediately erupted into panic attacks and dog-petting animal therapy. Concerns over disabling the wrist-implanted explosives led to heated arguments over amputating the hand in question. Further discussion later that evening included a bold but failed attempt at assuming leadership by Prince Toyosatomimi no Miko, a discussion into what exactly an aforementioned 'Super Bonus Special Sudden Death Round' would entail, and a pacifistic sticker movement. Day zero ends with confusion and concern for life and limb. Only one thing is for certain: nothing is for certain in this illogical, unfortunate game.
- Aya Shameimaru.

mess hall later in the day
[ Clash climbs up on top of the table and bangs her wrist cymbals together. After her proper introduction, she puts her hands on her hips. ]
Anyone who spoke to Malik in the past day should tell someone who hasn't! It may or may not be a way of narrowing things down, but we don't know until we try it.
Whoever would like to offer should speak to us individually to see who might be the most suspicious. I'd obviously offer myself, but I spoke to him too and there's no way I wanna be a suspect.

Body Burying Brigade...
We couldn't find anything, but I thought of something on the way here. [He nods towards the boats and walks off, coming back with three oars.]
These should work. Are you ready?
[Anybody who wants to get one last, thorough look at the body is more than welcome. As is anyone simply curious as to what they're doing, or wanting to say something to the dead.
It's going to take awhile to dig the hole, even with the three of them.]

Boathouse - after discussion has died down
He also has a few sweatshirts from the store with him and a vine from near the adventure treehouse. Now that all the supplies for his mysterious project are gathered, he waits around. Sighing, occasionally, because the fact that anyone died has him fairly depressed. He's waiting for someone in particular, but he'll gladly talk to anyone who shows up.]

Less murder!!! Zoo | Carnival | Kitchen
[Mahiru is lurking on one side of the mess hall and a little hesitant to get all the way into the cabinets before she's seen who's here... but traditions are traditions. Who wants to eat cinnamon-flavored breakfast foods together?]
Okay, here are the oats, Oz... and here's this grain, Tanaka, how do you think it looks?
B: Carnival
[As the sun is high in the sky some of them have even discovered the body. Still, there's supposedly at least one nonviolent way they can try to help themselves. Mahiru leads Natalia, Edea, and god knows who else into the noble fray: Carnie games.]
Alright, ladies, we might not have much time... so let's give this everything we've got! Where's the skee-ball?
C: Curry Cookout
[Since everybody got pretty distracted at breakfast by the newspaper and the... bod...y... made a lot of people lose their lunches, she wanted to do this as a dinner thing, but a late lunch has become the order of the day instead. Don't worry, the activities descend in difficulty as follows:]
B
[She doesn't like the thought of wasting time when they could be investigating, but they've spent all day arguing, and her brain really just needs a break!
Also there's like... pretty much nothing to investigate.]
It kind of just looks... depressing.
