dreamland day one

41 players remaining.

There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing.

The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker.

"Looks like it's time to get started after all! To all our guests, have a magical morning! Dream big and have fun, but don't forget to look for the body! We'll see you in the afternoon at the Hall of Mirrors when it's time to vote, okay?"

You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. Somewhere in the park, you'll find the body of Malik Ishtar.

Some people just like to be bold risk-takers. They'll do whatever they can to be on top.

[ It sounds like she's saying that affectionately. ]

Well if that is the case, then I hope the detonator has learned their lesson. Dangerous weapons of that sort cannot be hastily given out. We have enough trouble with the VIPs as it is.

Maybe either them or the person they gave the key to didn't think it would detonate, so they thought they'd try it out to see if it's real and now we all know it might be the truth.

The risks people take with idle curiosity.

Though I wonder...with Malik's multiple injuries, what if Malik was targeted by both the VIPs and a person with a key? I noticed it looked as though a poison was injected into him through the bracelet, but he also is partly exploded. The odds of both VIP and key holder targeting him are exponentially high, but it could be possible.

Do you think they're working together then?

Unintentionally perhaps. Maybe the detonator gave a key to a VIP and they wanted to test if it would work, as you proposed before. I would hope the detonator would not intentionally give a key to a known VIP. The odds are already stacked against us as it is.

Talk about a weird coincidence... and here I thought that the medical team had just saved a person from being killed by the VIPs.

I think it's still a good idea to talk to everyone who talked to him anyway. It's the only lead we have right now.

It could be the medical team. This is the first anyone has died and in such a strange way...there's no way to be positive.

But I agree. There is no harm in at least checking everyone who had contact with Malik. With so few leads we may as well investigate everything we can with our time.

Even if it turns up with nothing, we've still got time and other people to investigate other stuff anyway. This is just our main focus for now and digging out heels into the ground thinking their still isn't a killer isn't gonna help us at all.

Agreed. There is no doubt - someone here is responsible for Malik's death. It is our duty to ensure that justice is served to the ones who committed this treacherous deed.

Exactly! We should focus less on the Legion being a VIP thing while acting like there's no one here who'd do this and more on trying to figure out who had a part in getting rid of Malik.

Correct. If nothing else, we could focus on why someone would choose to accuse Legion. I spoke to him earlier and he proposed that it could be because he is not seen as "living" like the rest of us. That it's easier to point the finger at him because he is a machine.

That makes sense. It seems kinda fishy she got the note early enough to publish in her paper too. Doesn't it? It might just be a red herring for all we know.

Indeed. In fact, if anything, she is the most likely person to have written that note.

It would make sense for her to be the detective if she can write it in her own paper right? Or even one of the buddy cops so that she could say it was from a different person and not herself...

If the detective and the buddy cops are both allowed outside their rooms, maybe they meet up and talk about it too? That might be way too risky though.

Or if she's a VIP pointing people in the wrong direction, while taking no full responsibility for it under the guise of anonymity. I would hope our cops and detective are smart enough to keep themselves properly hidden.

That could be it too. Even the made up symbols could have just been a way to make it look like more legitimate tip. I can tell you her story about me isn't a lie though.

[ It is, but... not on Aya's end. ]

Guess we'll only really know who they are if the one of them tries try to lead the discussion one way.
