dreamland day one

41 players remaining.

There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing.

The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker.

"Looks like it's time to get started after all! To all our guests, have a magical morning! Dream big and have fun, but don't forget to look for the body! We'll see you in the afternoon at the Hall of Mirrors when it's time to vote, okay?"

You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. Somewhere in the park, you'll find the body of Malik Ishtar.

It's not weird, but if they're a bunch of killers... why wouldn't they want to convert a guy who easily threatened to chop off a dog's paw?
pundulum: (uhhhhh)

[personal profile] pundulum 2014-09-23 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Because he'd be totally obvious?

And if he's that big of a jerk, maybe even they didn't want to work with him. A lot of people think the VIPs are being blackmailed too.

Blackmailed? What make 'em say that?
pundulum: (wait lemme just get my tearbuckets)

[personal profile] pundulum 2014-09-23 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I mean... there's not any evidence of it, but.... no one would kill a random stranger just because someone told them it was a game. I want to believe that.

I don't think one body is enough evidence for it being blackmail or not, since it could be either the VIPs or whoever has a key, but if we don't get past that then we're never gonna figure it out. We all might be wearing targets on our back if that's the case.
pundulum: (what is that)

[personal profile] pundulum 2014-09-23 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... I'm saying I don't think it makes any sense for it to be the detonator's work. That would mean whoever they gave the key to killed Malik for no good reason. I don't buy that.

You really think that not liking someone isn't a good enough reason?

Of course it isn't!

Then what kind of reason do you want?

Ugh....

[He really doesn't think there is any good reason for killing someone, but.]

That's not the point. The point is, even if the detonator gave someone here a key, why would they use it right away to start off the killings themselves? Grudge or no grudge, wouldn't they wait to see what happened first?

[ Clash rolls her eyes, because to her that's exactly the point he was trying to make. She doesn't bother with that anymore. ]

Maybe the Detonator didn't believe it was real and the key bearer tried it out to see if it would work or vice versa. Maybe they were friends and both thought it was a joke. There was only one way for them to find out, right?

No, not right! You can't just make stuff up!

It's not making stuff up, it's called theorizing. Which is better than standing around and acting like none of this can happen when it already has!
pundulum: (oh whatever)

[personal profile] pundulum 2014-09-24 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
I know that. I just think it had to be the VIPs. That's literally all I'm saying.

[in other words he thinks the detonator possibility is a wild goose chase and they'd be better off not focusing on it.]

Why do you say that?
pundulum: (come on...)

[personal profile] pundulum 2014-09-24 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
[...He thought he already explained this. But he'll say it again.]

It comes down to motives. As of last night, the VIPs were the only ones who might have one. We can't know exactly why they're cooperating, but at least they had those dumb rules. Saying the detonator was just fooling around... there's nothing to support that theory at all.

In that case, we could also easily say the medical team stopped the VIPs from killing someone because that goes by the rules too.
