There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing. The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker. "Looks like it's time to get started after all! To all our guests, have a magical morning! Dream big and have fun, but don't forget to look for the body! We'll see you in the afternoon at the Hall of Mirrors when it's time to vote, okay?" You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. [Royce mumbles to himself, fingers gesturing in the air as he does the math in his head, and...yes. Legion is correct. The math all adds up. And if there's anything Royce trusts in, it's the logical strength of numbers.]

I can verify that Legion is correct in his...calculations. [He shakes his head, letting out a sigh.] It is too...very, very risky. To vote. With the inclusion of pairs, and the number of those who are not VIP...it is likely we will kill someone who does not deserve it...

However, if we do not vote, then one more person becomes part of the VIP...and that is something we have to take into serious consideration.

Allowing them to convert one increases our chances of success at finding them. We lose one of our number. However, this would happen regardless. There is also a high probability that we will lose two.

[He nods.] Conversion may be, er, the "safer" choice...but at the same time, we have no guarantee...that the VIPs will not stop killing. The number of innocents would go down relative to the VIP number if they did, ah, kill, and while it might be easier, we would still have to deal with loss of life...

Either way, someone is likely to die.

It is highly probable. In the worst case, we may execute a pair, and the VIPs may execute a pair. If we do not vote, the worst case drops to two.

[ Emotions don't exactly work for appealing to Legion, so it will always go with simple numbers instead. ]

This game is rigged. Either way leads to what our kidnapper, what that person who kidnapped us, wants.

That is easier said than done. There are...41 of us, which more than 30, definitely more than 20. Could you safely name anyone as a VIP member at this point in time, with one hundred percent certainty?

I'm pretty sure us killing someone would be worse than someone becoming a VIP. [ She doesn't say "someone innocent" because, uh, executing anyone at all sounds way, way bad. ] If we could just convince the VIP people not to hurt anyone, wouldn't that stop anyone else from dying?

Yes, but that is easier said than done...we don't know whyyy the VIPs are trying to kill us, necessarily.
