![]() There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing. The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker. "Looks like it's time to get started after all! To all our guests, have a magical morning! Dream big and have fun, but don't forget to look for the body! We'll see you in the afternoon at the Hall of Mirrors when it's time to vote, okay?" You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. Somewhere in the park, you'll find the body of Malik Ishtar. character statuses private conversations graveyard Voting will close at 10 PM EST on Sept 24. Though a special comment for discussion will go up shortly before voting, you are encouraged to discuss who to vote for throughout the day. |

We would like to submit statistics for consideration. These are not fully reflective statistics. We wished to deliver something understandable to those without onboard processors. [ and because tbh I used this to study for my prob&stats exam so this would turn into me explaining 4 pages of notes and you don't want that... ]
Malik Ishtar was the only one to die. He must have been one of the unpaired individuals. This means there are now only 13 individuals. In the simple choose-one strategy of picking out of 41, if someone was chosen to be executed, it would be 82.927% likely that they would be innocent. It is also 68.293% likely that a paired individual would be killed. It is 56.633% likely to kill a person who is both innocent and paired with another person.
We submit this for your consideration. Our calculations suggest that execution may not be viable at this time without further information. The likelihood of executing an innocent is high.

I can verify that Legion is correct in his...calculations. [He shakes his head, letting out a sigh.] It is too...very, very risky. To vote. With the inclusion of pairs, and the number of those who are not VIP...it is likely we will kill someone who does not deserve it...
However, if we do not vote, then one more person becomes part of the VIP...and that is something we have to take into serious consideration.

[ by legion's standards anyways ]
Allowing them to convert one increases our chances of success at finding them. We lose one of our number. However, this would happen regardless. There is also a high probability that we will lose two.

Either way, someone is likely to die.

[ Emotions don't exactly work for appealing to Legion, so it will always go with simple numbers instead. ]

...More death.

What I mean to say is, ah, that our attempts may fall on deaf ears. They may not want to stop killing...

...
But thanks, those numbers are good to know.
[ A 'For Your Information' sort of thing. Besides, they basically mean the same thing as where I stand on this, I... think? ]

[ no i'm kidding, but Legion doesn't seem bothered at all, as usual. ]
You are welcome. We submit it for consideration as a part of a better dataset, since current data is limited.

There's nothing to consider. We don't have any leads and we don't know why the VIPs are actually going along with this. According to the rules, there's 7 of them right now, and even if one of them gets executed today, that would just be us playing along this messed up game, doing the exact same damn thing they did last night. It comes no closer to answering any of our questions we've had since arrival.
no subject
This is also an accurate assessment. We did not consider the condition of refusal.
no subject
Y-yeah. If we want deaths to stop happening, it's not just the VIPs, but us, too.
Anyway, I agree with what the others are saying. Whoever who made the note pinning you is the most suspicious. Even if they're not a VIP and are the actual detective, they're still playing along with this sick game. At the very least, I want to know why.

You're Legion? ...Huh.
[Weird.]
But... I agree entirely. I won't speak for everybody, but to condemn someone to death without just reason - that's something I could never do.
I think we need to follow up on the only clue we have - that note in the newspaper! Aya needs to produce it. We can look at the handwriting, the paper, the ink - that's all we've got right now.

The ink that was used to write it - who here has a writing implement that may match or was seen to have access to one? The paper - where is it from and what state is it in? All of these things are clues, aren't they?

Handwriting analysis is fault. It is easy to forge. However, we can analyze samples if produced.

The other thing is... why did they pick you, out of all people? Do you remember who you talked to yesterday?

We can't vote blindly, or we won't be any better than the VIPs who killed Ishtar today. All we have to go off of right now is the detective's note against you, and something about it doesn't quite fit. It might not be a fake, but I don't think it's entirely accurate. The rules state a detective will learn the alliance of a guest, not their exact role.
no subject
It is more likely to be an attempt to discredit the detective.

[Since it kind of involves executing you.]
