day one - afternoon
![]() [As the day wears on into the afternoon, the dead aren't getting any deader. It's late in the afternoon, and the air is beginning to cool, when the chimes play again over the park loudspeaker. "All of us here at Dreamland wish you luck, guests! Let's meet up in the Hall of Mirrors!" Wherever you are, it's time to make your way over to the House of Horrors, where you'll have to brave the funhouse to find the room on the top floor. Don't delay, or your guest identification bracelet will begin beeping. The House of Mirrors is a large room, more than capable of fitting a crowd. Tall mirrors line every wall, and the door you entered through seems to vanish into a mirror as well. The mirrors give the impression that many, many more are among your number, standing in the background. In the back is a jar filled with blank raffle tickets. You'll have to take a ticket, write down a name, and place it back in the jar. Hopefully you already know who you're voting for, but if not, you only have time for a brief discussion before you're out of time. character statuses private conversations graveyard Voting will close at 10 PM EST on Sept 24. |
DISCUSSION ABOUT THE NOTE
Now, before we begin, we must...well. Discuss a certain subject. That is, the note naming Legion as a VIP that was...printed, written, in today's newspaper, courtesy of Aya.
[He nods in her direction.]
...What is everyone's opinions on this? Do we believe that this is from the real, bonafide detective...? Or that this is a farce of some kind, some joke, written to specially distract us...?
What does everyone think?
no subject
If the detective really wanted us to believe it, they would have tried harder to really let us know or at least figure out another way to get that across.

The VIPs, in their discussion, realize that the detective, once they have enough information, would find a way to distribute it anonymously. In order to cut this off, they do this on their own - by giving an anonymous tip that ends in the execution of an innocent, the entire group is soured on the possibility of a reliable, anonymous detective. From that moment on, the detective must come forward in the open to be trusted at all, and in doing so become a target for their enemies.
Something along those lines, at least, is a possibility.

It's certainly possible. On the one hand, there are seven VIPs out of 41 choices for the detective. Choosing correctly on the first night would be quite the lucky pick. On the other hand, if the detective did make a lucky pick, I'm sure he or she would he motivated to let us know as quickly as possible.

Let's look at it this way: If you were a detective, who would you choose to look into on the first night? There are a lot of us here and we've all just had a major shock, so it would be incredibly difficult to tell if anyone was acting suspicious yesterday.
If it were me, I'd pick someone I liked, someone I didn't know well but wanted to trust. And in that case, isn't it a little cruel to out them anonymously and immediately, before you even knew if they'd killed anybody?

[He starts counting off on his hand]
One: The note was sent by VIPs, wanting to make everyone lynch Legion so they could kill two innocents in one day. There's seven of them versus thirty-five of us, of course they'd want to knock our number down as quick as possible.
Two: The note was sent by the actual detective. Which I still find hard to believe, but there's no real way to prove that it's not true.
Three: The note was sent by a normal guest or maybe even by the guy who's running this entire thing, to make everyone confused and make the game more interesting? [Which is a theory that makes him grossed out tbh]
And finally, my last theory is that it was written by Aya herself. No one's brought it up yet I think, but I think she could've done it to make her "newspaper" catch the eye of everyone else! [Using air quotes while he said the word "newspaper".]
I'd like to hear everyone's opinions on these theories though. And if you have any clues or information about anything, don't hesitate to speak up!

Ahaha. A theory to propose. That message may have fooled you fiends, but in fact, it may be a forgery.
[Yeah...]
In which case. I believe the one who prepared the publication should present the original for inspection.

Ooooo, that's a great idea! Maybe we could like, analyze the handwriting to see who sent it!

Conversion Tho
We know that not believing the note puts us at square one evidencewise, right? Especially because way more than half of the group isn't gonna lynch Legion, or anyone in general. I wanna talk about the real detective, if Legion's accuser is a fake. The real detective probably got a regular result. That's just by the majority we regulars have.
For now. But what about when somebody gets converted tonight? Because that at least is gonna happen unless the conversion busters are super duper lucky. If we keep abstaining, we're not just gonna let the VIP group get bigger. Someone might get converted even after the detective had gotten an innocent result from them before!
I'm just saying, any detective's only gonna get harder to trust if we abstain, not easier.
