day one - afternoon
![]() [As the day wears on into the afternoon, the dead aren't getting any deader. It's late in the afternoon, and the air is beginning to cool, when the chimes play again over the park loudspeaker. "All of us here at Dreamland wish you luck, guests! Let's meet up in the Hall of Mirrors!" Wherever you are, it's time to make your way over to the House of Horrors, where you'll have to brave the funhouse to find the room on the top floor. Don't delay, or your guest identification bracelet will begin beeping. The House of Mirrors is a large room, more than capable of fitting a crowd. Tall mirrors line every wall, and the door you entered through seems to vanish into a mirror as well. The mirrors give the impression that many, many more are among your number, standing in the background. In the back is a jar filled with blank raffle tickets. You'll have to take a ticket, write down a name, and place it back in the jar. Hopefully you already know who you're voting for, but if not, you only have time for a brief discussion before you're out of time. character statuses private conversations graveyard Voting will close at 10 PM EST on Sept 24. |

...No.
[ She's got a point... I haven't even considered that our captors might've reprogrammed Legion. ]
But what for, if he was already programmed in a way that defied the laws of robotics as we know them? You heard the alien robot just now.

They said it couldn't to a scan to see if there's any damage to their system, there might be a chance they really did change him for their own benefit.
[ She sounds like some sort of mad scientist when she talks about this. ]

[ My response is immediate. ]
Why just limit it to robots, then? How can we be sure humans aren't being brainwashed, too? Hell, they brought a dog here. Brain surgery also requires extreme precision and is very dangerous to the patient, you think they bandaged our heads for fun when we woke up?
[ Ugh, just the memory of it still makes me sick. ]
Anyway. If we start on this slippery slope, it doesn't end.

Nowaynowaynoway, don't suggest scary things like that!

[A pause.] It is just a theory.

Otherwise, we don't know that the rest of the VIPs aren't killers already. We've already got one admitted killer here, why wouldn't we have more? Isn't the whole part of avoiding suspicion is to blend in with the rest of the crowd?

[ Can I compare the murder of a human (Malik this morning...) and of... Legion, an alien-robot?
...
I'm not sure I can answer that. Maybe that's why I've been unconsciously thinking of us all from a different angle: the fact that we've all been chosen as 'players' for this game.
But what if the responsible IS among us...? ]
It'd still be playing along.
[ I finish weakly. We know too little... ]
One...
Wait, what?! Who admitted to be a killer?

[ I can feel the tension bleed out of my clenched fist and stiff shoulders. I'm not thrilled, but this is better news than I expected. ]
That's completely different! Don't make it sound that awful next time!

Why didn't we hear a bomb go off in the first place?
