dreamland day one

41 players remaining.

[As the day wears on into the afternoon, the dead aren't getting any deader. It's late in the afternoon, and the air is beginning to cool, when the chimes play again over the park loudspeaker.
"All of us here at Dreamland wish you luck, guests! Let's meet up in the Hall of Mirrors!"

Wherever you are, it's time to make your way over to the House of Horrors, where you'll have to brave the funhouse to find the room on the top floor. Don't delay, or your guest identification bracelet will begin beeping. The House of Mirrors is a large room, more than capable of fitting a crowd. Tall mirrors line every wall, and the door you entered through seems to vanish into a mirror as well. The mirrors give the impression that many, many more are among your number, standing in the background.

In the back is a jar filled with blank raffle tickets. You'll have to take a ticket, write down a name, and place it back in the jar. Hopefully you already know who you're voting for, but if not, you only have time for a brief discussion before you're out of time.

Right. Still, if this keeps happening, we can't just let ourselves get killed and converted over and over again either...
siggey: but does he actually make this face in-game (#main character)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-24 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Speaking of conversion, how do they even expect that to work? The rules sound so confident. While I dislike the idea too, I'd rather have that happen than increase the death toll.
jingler: sprite (as i was split in half)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-24 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I assume it just means they choose someone and that person becomes a VIP as well. They can even convert people who have special jobs.
siggey: (who wants to talk about the chinese room)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-25 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't mean the technical part. People have been saying how maybe those 7 VIPs from the start are plants. I don't know about that myself, but let's say it's true. Then what's going to convince the convert to stay quiet and go along with their game, once they're made part of the VIP? That's what I'm wondering about most.
harepiece: (it's a trying time)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-24 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I was wondering about that, too. I'd like to think that no one here would just... play along with this game, even if they were "converted".
siggey: can you believe he's gonna be a genius (hnng)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-25 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I guess we'll find out to--

[ I turn around to see another kid. This boy looks around 14.

What IS it with this fucked up place and kids?! ]

--morrow.

...

You okay?
harepiece: (give me sunlight)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-25 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
[YES HELLO, A CHILD HERE, he seems like he's doing pretty well at least.]

I'm fine. Thanks for asking, though. [said with a small smile, because he doesn't want to worry anyone needlessly!] But I guess you're right about that... If a person steps forward to talk about it, we'll know that it's something that can be avoided.
siggey: if not for dudebro tendencies... (a stand-up guy)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-25 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
...Yeah, it's tough, so hang in there.

[ I manage a faint one of my own anyway. ]

Let's hope so. Our options aren't great one way or another, but maybe the conversion won't happen like the mastermind would expect.

[ It beats having one extra body to deal with too, but I'm not going to say that in front of a kid. ]
harepiece: (it's a trying time)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-25 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
[that just has him nodding along in agreement because hey, hope springs eternal.]

I hope that it doesn't. Like you said, though... we'll find out tomorrow. The most that we can do now is keep hoping.
siggey: (yeaah ALLY)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-25 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
About this, maybe, but once we're out of here, there's gotta be more. You've been to some of the rides yet, kid?

[ Enough about murders already. Kids his age should be out there enjoying the rides, so I'm not going to stick around that subject any longer than I have to. ]
harepiece: (no can do captain)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-25 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
[he can tell what Sigma is trying to do, at least... it's pretty sweet, and he's grateful for it. not like he can contribute much to the current conversation anyway, with how things are going; he won't change his vote regardless.]

Ah... Yeah, I have! Ibuki showed me the roller coaster and the teacups. A few of the other ones that I wanted to try looked a little too dangerous, though.
siggey: (true dork)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-25 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
[ The roller coaster? I had to lean over a bit to scrutinize his height. Is he even tall enough to be let on?

I'm going to have to keep a close eye on this kid if he's doing rides, though. ]

Teacups are alright, but don't do them too often, they're mainly for little girls. So did you get on them, the roller coaster specifically?

[ Sticking to the right rides is an essential part of growing up for any young boy dreaming of reaching manhood, after all! ]
harepiece: (what a tweest!!)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-25 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
[RUDE. RUDE AS HELL he's totally tall enough, wow.]

Eh? Is there a rule about that somewhere? The girl who showed me how it worked wasn't little. [and then she almost sent them both flying into space, wow.] I did, though!
siggey: if not for dudebro tendencies... (a stand-up guy)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-25 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
It's the truth! You'll see in a few years, they're good for dates though. Boys just can't ride them alone. Anyway, you passed the height check for the roller coaster? Good for you! If you cleared that one, nothing left should stand in the way of a young man and the best of what any amusement park has to offer. Saw the bumper cars?
harepiece: (please let it be cake)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-25 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[SIGMA YOU ARE GOING TOO FAST]

Wait, what? What height check? There's a height check? [why are there so many park rules that no one told him about...] I just went on it because Ibuki said that it was fun!
siggey: (yeaah ALLY)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-26 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, wasn't there a sign up front? You need to be a certain height to get on some rides.

...

Oh, that chick, huh?

[ She was pretty special.

But more importantly! ]

So how was it, kid?
harepiece: (bluebirds)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-26 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't see any sign like that... [HE BROKE THE LAW.]

Um... It was all right! I didn't expect the ride to stop and start so much, though.
siggey: if not for dudebro tendencies... (a stand-up guy)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-27 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
...

[ I shrug. No harm done, I guess! ]

It's not supposed to, but if you've never been on a roller coaster before, that's pretty much the deal. Is this your first time in an amusement park, too?

[ I've already met a disturbing amount of people who haven't... Seriously. What the hell? ]
harepiece: (what a tweest!!)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-27 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
[ADD ANOTHER TO THE LIST because Oz nods...]

Yeah! We don't have anything like this where I'm from. Um... Well, we don't have a lot of things here where I'm from.

[Even the clothing that most people wear is pretty weird to him.]
siggey: if not for dudebro tendencies... (a stand-up guy)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-27 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ I feel sorry for all of them. ]

I'd make more recommendations, but too many things are closed.

[ Or has a good chance of killing us. I'd still go on them, but I probably shouldn't be suggesting them to little boys.

Anyway, I look back at him after scrolling through my bracelet. Might as well start making use of this creepy watch. ]

Oz, huh? I'm Sigma. Where are you from? Land of Oz?
harepiece: (but idiots can't catch colds!)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-27 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
[The reference and joke sail neatly over Oz's head, since they do not have that book in his dumb nameless country!!]

No, I'm from Reveille. [An Attempt Was Made.] But it's nice to meet you, Sigma! Do they have a lot of things like this where you're from?
siggey: if not for dudebro tendencies... (a stand-up guy)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-27 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh.

[ I'm almost disappointed... ]

Reveille, isn't that French?

[ I shrug, not really sure (and can't say I really care). ]

Must be in Europe. And yeah, amusement parks are pretty common. Not that many since it'd cheapen the experience, but they're popular attractions for friends and families. You don't know Disney either, I'm guessing?
harepiece: (you heathens)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-27 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, sorry. I don't really know about any Europes. [But at least he's already had this conversation before, so he doesn't sound too surprised by the unfamiliar word.]

And I haven't heard of that, either. Is it the name of these parks? [CLOSE.]

It definitely makes it sound like they don't doubt that all of us would play along if we were converted. That's pretty unnerving on its own.
siggey: :( (why is this happening to me)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-25 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
I've been thinking about it too. If the convert keeps quiet tomorrow, that just pushes the question of what convinced them, which could be pretty likely the same reason that got the original VIPs to start killing in the first place.
