dreamland day one

41 players remaining.

[As the day wears on into the afternoon, the dead aren't getting any deader. It's late in the afternoon, and the air is beginning to cool, when the chimes play again over the park loudspeaker.
"All of us here at Dreamland wish you luck, guests! Let's meet up in the Hall of Mirrors!"

Wherever you are, it's time to make your way over to the House of Horrors, where you'll have to brave the funhouse to find the room on the top floor. Don't delay, or your guest identification bracelet will begin beeping. The House of Mirrors is a large room, more than capable of fitting a crowd. Tall mirrors line every wall, and the door you entered through seems to vanish into a mirror as well. The mirrors give the impression that many, many more are among your number, standing in the background.

In the back is a jar filled with blank raffle tickets. You'll have to take a ticket, write down a name, and place it back in the jar. Hopefully you already know who you're voting for, but if not, you only have time for a brief discussion before you're out of time.

Maybe the point was to get us to be distrustful of the reports of the detective to begin with...it certainly makes things a bit easier for the VIPs, no?

What I'd do if I were a VIP... submit a fake report, then start submitting reports that are actually true, because Aya-chan's gonna publish no matter what, so people think all my reports are fake and vote opposite, when just the first one was.

But that's a super complicated plan. And we gotta keep in mind, if the report's fake, the real detective didn't do anything we know about. So I think that this situation shows the real detective got lucky and then got excited. But we can't consent as a group to a vote today.

But is the real detective even able to immediately determine whether someone's a VIP? The rules say they can find out whether someone's a guest or a special guest, unless I'm wrong about that... Even if he got lucky and found out that Legion was a special guest...that means just that. How you make the leap to VIP from there...even a detective wouldn't be able to do that.

The only special guests are VIPs, according to the rulebook! People with the jobs are just listed as "guests" in it.
loveisanopendoor: (I won't judge)

Oooh! Gotcha, gotcha! Okay, that makes more sense now!

The wording's probably bad on purpose to confuse us.

Considering everything else here, I definitely wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. At least that's cleared up now, though.

Right! ...Not that it helps us figure out if the note is real or not, or anything...
loveisanopendoor: (Serious)

[personal profile] loveisanopendoor 2014-09-25 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
It actually just brings up more questions, if anything.

I wonder if there's a way for us to find out how the people with roles get their information. Then we'd be able to figure out what we should be looking for from something that's actually from the detective.
loveisanopendoor: (I never knew why)

[personal profile] loveisanopendoor 2014-09-25 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
If only it were that easy. Someone admitting that process is just about the same as someone turning themselves in as a person with a special role, though...

...ugh. I really hate myself for even thinking this, but -

If we execute him and then are allowed to vote for an MVP, we know that note was real. Isn't that how it works? If we get it right, we get to choose someone to protect?

I don't want to choose to execute him, though... There's still a strong chance it could be fake, and he shouldn't have to die if he's innocent.

[She nods.] And if we vote for someone, right or wrong, the VIPs won't be able to convert someone. But betting someone's life on that is a lot to ask of people.

What happens if there's a tie? If each of us votes for a different perso-- no, a single messed up vote would mean someone's death. And we don't know who has a buddy and who doesn't, so that... Could actually mean two deaths.

...this is so frustrating!

"Special guest" means VIP; "special role" means super powered regular. That's how I read it. Is my English bad or something? "Alignment" has a moral element, doesn't it. Buddy cops are the same way. We gotta get something concrete out of these stupid power roles.
loveisanopendoor: (Oh okay)

[personal profile] loveisanopendoor 2014-09-25 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
No, no, it's probably my bad! Still, though, it's true...if we don't get info out of anyone else, the only thing we have to go off of is this anonymous tip. Which still isn't exactly decisive...
