dreamland day one

41 players remaining.

[As the day wears on into the afternoon, the dead aren't getting any deader. It's late in the afternoon, and the air is beginning to cool, when the chimes play again over the park loudspeaker.
"All of us here at Dreamland wish you luck, guests! Let's meet up in the Hall of Mirrors!"

Wherever you are, it's time to make your way over to the House of Horrors, where you'll have to brave the funhouse to find the room on the top floor. Don't delay, or your guest identification bracelet will begin beeping. The House of Mirrors is a large room, more than capable of fitting a crowd. Tall mirrors line every wall, and the door you entered through seems to vanish into a mirror as well. The mirrors give the impression that many, many more are among your number, standing in the background.

In the back is a jar filled with blank raffle tickets. You'll have to take a ticket, write down a name, and place it back in the jar. Hopefully you already know who you're voting for, but if not, you only have time for a brief discussion before you're out of time.

I think it's suspicious.

Let's look at it this way: If you were a detective, who would you choose to look into on the first night? There are a lot of us here and we've all just had a major shock, so it would be incredibly difficult to tell if anyone was acting suspicious yesterday.

If it were me, I'd pick someone I liked, someone I didn't know well but wanted to trust. And in that case, isn't it a little cruel to out them anonymously and immediately, before you even knew if they'd killed anybody?

You know, I hadn't considered that. Was the timing of the note delivery before or after the announcement of a body?

Even if it was, writing and delivering it would require some amount of forethought. But then, your logic relies entirely on the idea that the detective is the type of person who would think and act as you would. I would assume there were plenty here who didn't doubt the VIPs intended to kill.

I should hope our detective isn't so cynical!

Detectives usually are.

[just sayin]

They could have at least told somebody they trusted instead of giving it out in the most suspicious way possible! Which means the profile of this hypothetical detective is someone cynical, anti-robot, and friendless! Nobody would make a manga about a detective like that!

But if it truly was the detective who discovered that Legion was a VIP, perhaps they were afraid the person they told would also be a VIP.

However, by submitting it anonymously, we have no way of confirming it either...

I suppose if it truly was the detective, future notes will clarify the issue...
royalizing: (did i hear that right?)

But we also have no way of verifying future notes unless we act on them. And acting without being able to verify them could condemn an innocent person to their death.

[ Talk about a catch-22... ]

And no matter how you look at it, it would be madness to put someone's life on the line over it...

Yes... We must take care with our actions.
