day one - afternoon
![]() [As the day wears on into the afternoon, the dead aren't getting any deader. It's late in the afternoon, and the air is beginning to cool, when the chimes play again over the park loudspeaker. "All of us here at Dreamland wish you luck, guests! Let's meet up in the Hall of Mirrors!" Wherever you are, it's time to make your way over to the House of Horrors, where you'll have to brave the funhouse to find the room on the top floor. Don't delay, or your guest identification bracelet will begin beeping. The House of Mirrors is a large room, more than capable of fitting a crowd. Tall mirrors line every wall, and the door you entered through seems to vanish into a mirror as well. The mirrors give the impression that many, many more are among your number, standing in the background. In the back is a jar filled with blank raffle tickets. You'll have to take a ticket, write down a name, and place it back in the jar. Hopefully you already know who you're voting for, but if not, you only have time for a brief discussion before you're out of time. character statuses private conversations graveyard Voting will close at 10 PM EST on Sept 24. |

[ not grumpy eyepatch children ]
I have absolutely no interest in joining something so preposterous.

[ Make it the Grumpy Eyepatch Club. Maya can make you a sign! ]
Awww, don't be so sour! Do you have anything better to do?

[ ciel you were not meant for this game... ]

[ He seems to be more genuinely mad at this point, huffing a bit angrily. ]
Someone died. How can we just talk about such stupid things... Does it not matter?
no subject
Of course it matters... but we can't bring back the dead. All we can do is try to find out who killed them. Thing is, we don't have enough evidence yet. The only piece we do have is that note, which we can't totally trust without anything to back it up. So until we have more evidence, or information, or anything... there's not much we can do unless we want to execute someone who could be innocent. Which we don't want.
I think for now, we're stuck.

...Ugh.
[ He just grumbles to himself at first, but then nods. ]
No, you're... right. But I hate that. This isn't... fair.
[ Even though he's a grumpy little shit, he's still just thirteen, so the casual conversations have seemed callous to him. ]

In some ways, this is almost preferable to the alternative. No, it's not getting us anywhere as far as finding the VIPs...but it's not mass hysteria and paranoia. Which is the absolute worst thing we could be dealing with right now and the things we should be avoiding at all costs.

...This is coping? I haven't understood half of these ridiculous conversations at all.
[ He scoffs, since it's hard for Ciel to imagine that, as sour as his personality is, but he shakes his head. At least he seems less upset hearing it spelled out like this. ]
But that's... better, I suppose. Do you think such a thing is truly possible? [ because yeah, that's definitely worse... ]

But in a situation like this, with this many people...it's impossible for those things not to exist, paranoia especially. It's hard to trust people when you have no idea if they're lying and want to kill you or not. But as long as it doesn't get the better of us, we should be okay. So as long as all our sensible and level-headed people aren't VIPs and as long as they don't all die, we should be able to keep those things at bay.
[Somebody has to reign in all these cloud cuckoolanders. God help us all if it comes down to just them and the VIPs...]
