day three
![]() There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing. The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker. "Rise and shine! Let's have a lot of fun and look for the bodies, too!" You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. Somewhere in the park, you'll find the bodies of Dipper Pines and Mahiru Koizumi. character statuses private conversations graveyard Voting will close at 10 PM EST on September 30. Though a special post for discussion will go up shortly before voting, you are encouraged to discuss who to vote for throughout the day. |

She didn't bother reading the bulletin, scared of seeing his name and refusing to believe he was the one who was dead, instead leaving to search for the body on her own. She would find whoever it was and take notes for Dipper since apparently he was sleeping in today! Stupid, sleepy head.
When she finds the body, her blood runs cold and she's rooted to her spot by the train.]
...D-Dipper...?
[...nope. No. He couldn't be the one who's dead. She wasn't looking at his dead body. He was just...waiting for her, yeah. So she gets in the car, standing there for a moment before reaching out to shake his shoulder gently with a shaky laugh.]
H-haha Dipper. V-very funny. Y-you can s-s-stop joking now.
[When it's clear that he is very much not joking - very much dead - the other twin slowly sinks to sit next to him, eyes wide and scared and brimming with tears.
And then she wraps her arms around the corpse, letting out a wail.]
N-no! N-n-no!! You can't be d-dead! I d-don't want to be h-here alone!

[To say that Royce is good with people would be a lie. He isn't. But this is not something he can exactly just stand and watch impassively. The feeling of losing a sibling...Royce believes it must be unimaginable.]
[He approaches quietly, reaching out a hand to her shoulder, his frail voice level:]
This...isn't a place for you. [A pause.] I'm sorry...I'm sorry for your loss.

N-no! I sh-should stay by his s-side! Th-that's...w-we're twins...we're supposed to stick by each other...
no subject
[He lets out a sound that sounds like the mixture between a sigh and a huff.]
I understand. However...no good will be done from staying here, I think...

But...Royce at least gets her to let go and sit back. She just holds one of Dipper's hands instead, keeping the other in her lap and her eyes downcast.]
...I-I don't...I don't know what to do...
no subject
[He steps back a little, just to give her some space, his hand withdrawn. Royce isn't a stranger to death, but...he always found it easier to just throw himself into his work after an event like that. Other people...they don't have that luxury.]
All we can do, really, is...find the person responsible. He will not have died in vain.

[No. This is a younger kid. Like, not even high-school. She's a foreigner, and young enough that Peko approaches and quietly switches to her first name.]
Mabel.
[One of the two who'd been so adamant about helping her find Kuzuryuu's murderer, it feels wrong to just leave her like this. But Peko's definitely not going to be the one to pull her away from the corpse. She's just going to... put a hand on her shoulder. Yes. That's super-comforting. You go, Peko.]

[Thanks, Peko. She would give Mabel a hug, but she isn't about to pull her away from the body. If anyone had tried that with Peko yesterday, they would have been met with violence.]
I will help you find who did this.
no subject
But...instead of saying anything, all she can manage to do is start crying again. There's a nod though, so at least she acknowledges and accepts the offer of help.]

Peko what do you have in your pockets. In the future you use your necktie for Ciel's tears. Clearly she did not anticipate having so many children's tears to dry. Howcouldthishappentome.mp3
Peko has literally nothing in her pockets, as Kurapika proved the other day. But she does have that red cloth badge around her arm, which she undoes and folds up, pressing it into Mabel's free hand. It's like a handkerchief.]

So, she waits nearby for some time until Mabel feels like coming over to her. She doesn't think there's a way to get her mind off Dipper anyway. ]

When she finally does, however, Clash will likely immediately notice the girl wearing his hat and vest, clutching an odd and old looking journal in her arms. She isn't looking up, so she doesn't so much as see the other girl as she does run into her.]
S-sorry...
no subject
[ She doesn't seem to care that Mabel's bumped into her, she just looks down at her. Clash isn't very good with kids, so she's not sure what to do with something like this... even after seeing Ibuki losing her classmate yesterday. ]
You wanna hang out? I can do your make-up again or we can play carnival games. Even if you just wanna sit by the lake or something...

She just watches her for a moment, the bags already forming under her eyes from this whole ordeal dark and still wet with fresh tears, before nodding and holding out a hand towards her.]

Even so, she doesn't know what to say. Everything feels sort of ineffectual. Instead she just puts an arm around Mabel's shoulders in a vain attempt to comfort her. ]
I... know it probably doesn't help, but... I'm sure his spirit is still with you, watching after you. You're not alone, even if you can't see him anymore.

R-r-right...h-he wouldn't l-leave me al-alone...

Looking down at him, Dipper looks even younger being cradled in the small arms of his twin. She swallows her fury at the monsters the VIPs would have to be to do something like this, and says gently: ]
Mabel... I'm so sorry. We'll find them, I promise. They won't get away with this.

Will you tell me about him?

[That gets her to calm down her tears a little.]
