dreamland day one 41 players remaining. [As the day wears on into the afternoon, the dead aren't getting any deader. It's late in the afternoon, and the air is beginning to cool, when the chimes play again over the park loudspeaker. "All of us here at Dreamland wish you luck, guests! Let's meet up in the Hall of Mirrors!" Wherever you are, it's time to make your way over to the House of Horrors, where you'll have to brave the funhouse to find the room on the top floor. Don't delay, or your guest identification bracelet will begin beeping. The House of Mirrors is a large room, more than capable of fitting a crowd. Tall mirrors line every wall, and the door you entered through seems to vanish into a mirror as well. The mirrors give the impression that many, many more are among your number, standing in the background. In the back is a jar filled with blank raffle tickets. You'll have to take a ticket, write down a name, and place it back in the jar. Conversion Tho

[So Mahiru has spent most of this trial raising her hand at the Legion-Pines-Mioda-Kuzuryuu affair, then lowering her hand, then raising it again. Finally she lowers her hand once and for all.]

We know that not believing the note puts us at square one evidencewise, right? Especially because way more than half of the group isn't gonna lynch Legion, or anyone in general. I wanna talk about the real detective, if Legion's accuser is a fake. The real detective probably got a regular result. That's just by the majority we regulars have.

For now. But what about when somebody gets converted tonight? Because that at least is gonna happen unless the conversion busters are super duper lucky. If we keep abstaining, we're not just gonna let the VIP group get bigger. Someone might get converted even after the detective had gotten an innocent result from them before!

I'm just saying, any detective's only gonna get harder to trust if we abstain, not easier.

We definitely shouldn't refuse to vote every day, but I can't blame people for being hesitant to trust a note like that, either.

Yeah... it looks like there's no way we'd get a vote in today. I think that literally twenty people might have stood up and said so when you got us back on track.

Trusting Aya's newspaper obviously wasn't the best plan if that note really is from the detective. On the other hand, everyone seems to want way more conclusive evidence, like--fingerprints or something. I don't know how anyone would get that.

Unless they figure out a better way to get their word out, they're gonna be hard to trust in general.

That's for sure. Heck, I'd trust someone who stood up and said that even less. Like, what you really want if you do that is to not get voted for. Even a desperate regular might try it. That doesn't help anybody.

If it's a rushed move on their part, then they should figure out something better. Something that makes it easier to know it's them other than some mysterious symbol and an anonymous tip in the newspaper.

That's true, but... we can't just execute someone based on a note that we can't verify the source of. That's not right. Even if we did it and Legion turned out to really be a VIP, doing it without knowing for sure... that's just as bad, isn't it? We can't vote when we don't have the evidence!

Yeah, even though I believe the note... for now, it's so risky.

On the other hand... that seems sorta like the way this game is set up. So we have to just reason out guesses. That crime scene... it was gruesome, what happened to Ishtar, but we also didn't get anything real incriminating from it, did we? No tracks... no fingerprints...

I guess it's not really a fair game. Makes sense, since clearly our kidnapper is a huge jerk! I don't think he wants it to be easy for us, he just wants to see us suffer. Murdering someone innocent... he might just want us to do it.

No, I didn't see any evidence that could help us, either. Which is impossible, there has to be some kind of evidence proving who did it.

The only way we're going to survive this is if the detective or cops or whatever think of a better way to get their results to us besides leaving super suspicious notes in some trashy tabloid that might be written by one of the killers anyway. If we're too scared to vote, we'll just be letting the VIPs walk all over us.

I don't wanna roll over for some gang who thinks they're better and more worthy to live than the rest of us.

What better way have you got in mind, though, Nanami-chan? The detective obviously either thinks this is the best they can do, or hasn't come up with anything.

If I knew, I would have said something already! They're the ones who have to come up with a way. The killers can just copy anything we try to come up with in public.

I, too, believe it foolhardy to vote. And it is not because I am softhearted! No, indeed.

I believe the note to be the work of a charlatan. Shall we prove we will execute on the whim of a charlatan? Or shall we live in regret for that choice, therefore only making it more difficult to trust the true detective when the time comes for that reveal?

Gotcha. When you find anything that's gonna harden your heart, lemme know ASAP, OK?

This is correct. However, probability suggests that allowing the VIPs to convert tonight may be a more strategic decision. Statistically, it is less risky at this stage to abstain and allow their pool to grow by one. Choosing randomly, there is over an 70% chance of failure.

There's what I don't understand, though. Aren't we looking at, like, 68% once one more person is converted and another one dies? We're never going to have the odds in our favor if the guess remains completely random, 'cause once there are more of them than us regulars, we've lost.

You're right... but still, I feel we don't know enough yet to vote for someone based on the note.

Perhaps by tomorrow... [ Something will happen that can prove someone guilty for sure? That's probably just wishful thinking. ] We'll have more time to investigate this note, and more evidence.

Are you saying we should choose to kill a likely innocent just as... a strategic maneuver? That may be so, but the cost is far too great.

Well, we're literally always gonna outnumber the VIPs until they beat us... so barring some magical proof, we are gonna have less than even odds.

But Edea-chan... are you still thinking that we should just let them convert all of us to ensure survival? Because that sudden death round clause... really makes me think it isn't that safe.

What?! When did I ever say that? I'd rather be murdered than be... 'converted'.

We can allow leeway this first time... but from this point forth, we will do everything in our power to identify our enemies. I'll play key-ball all day if I have to.

Maybe the point was to get us to be distrustful of the reports of the detective to begin with...it certainly makes things a bit easier for the VIPs, no?

What I'd do if I were a VIP... submit a fake report, then start submitting reports that are actually true, because Aya-chan's gonna publish no matter what, so people think all my reports are fake and vote opposite, when just the first one was.

But that's a super complicated plan. And we gotta keep in mind, if the report's fake, the real detective didn't do anything we know about. So I think that this situation shows the real detective got lucky and then got excited. But we can't consent as a group to a vote today.

I keep saying it, we need more evidence! We need to sniff out these VIPs and if the detectives of buddy cops or whatever get information, they need to give it to us! And note just by shady notes!

You can say it all you want, but if you think the note's too shady, you gotta accept that the detective's hiding right now! Like a coward!
