dreamland day three 34 players remaining. There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing. The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker. "Rise and shine! Let's have a lot of fun and look for the bodies, too!" You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. ...Yes, I believe so. I will not reveal my plan, but I will ensure two things. The first is that I will not come to know Miss-L's results, as I believe my alignment is still a mystery. To ensure I am believed, if there is anyone who claims they have been cleared by the detectives or buddy cops who wishes to accompany me and see what I do, I suggest you find me and join me.

The second is that Miss-L's results will not come to be public knowledge, but none shall perish from an accusation that could be disproven.

[ ...Oh no. Mysterion pulls down his hood as he approaches the body. He opens the side of the teacup, stepping carefully into it. He reaches down to try to clear some of the blood from her face with his glove.

This is the first time this all sort of hurts. She'd been so kind to him. The fact that this confirms an active detonator from yesterday and shows how buddies die is cold comfort. ]

[She let's go of the arm band, a little confused when it's wrapped around her arm at first, looking up at her questioningly at first. But...even though she doesn't quite understand what it means, she gets it's supposed to be an important gesture.]

It's going to be difficult navigating with our detective, but I believe Mr. Missile has a few people he holds in his trust. Let's see if they get in contact with you.

That said, I believe that most people will trust you to convey Mr. Missile's intentions clearly, regardless of your alignment.

Tell me, then, what you would do. Describe to me a strategy with any respectable chance of preserving more than twenty lives. Explain to me how you would heroically uncover every VIP and protect every Guest.

One death in two will carry with it the death of an unannounced partner. Whoever wins, open war between the Guests and the VIPs will invariably end in most of us dying. If the VIPs had been forced against their will to kill, then they could have used their conversions to save their partners, and ended this with a minimum of bloodshed.

Everything I do, I do with the hope of this ending with the greatest number of survivors. So yes, I would have preferred to make sacrifices for total certainty than gamble with people's lives.

So you're still a coward. I don't have a strategy. I don't even need to tell you one; having one wouldn't discredit my assessment of you.

I'd rather die knowing I tried to do the right thing than to have willingly sacrificed people who did nothing to deserve it. Maybe everyone's not as pragmatic as you. Maybe that's a fault. But I can't stand by what you're saying.

[ The touch makes him flinch unconsciously, which makes his frown deepen momentarily as well. He hates this place. For many reasons, but the way it seems to dig at old wounds is particularly hateful. At least the way Peko chooses to approach the situation is a good one for Ciel. He takes a deep breath as he neatly folds her necktie, though it's just a nervously gesture more than anything. ]

Right...

[ Right, he says. This is beneath him, because he's the Earl of Phantomhive, and that's the mantra he's repeated to himself ever since he took the bloody ring. Ciel takes a deep breath as if to steady himself, then stands. His expression is composed and regal, but at the same time, he never so much as glances back towards the teacup. ]

[She's sorry, Clash. She really is. She doesn't mean to make anyone uncomfortable, she just doesn't know what to do or say now...but she nods a little at the mention of hot dogs.]

You must understand, though - you cannot choose to not sacrifice anyone. Whether you chose to fight the VIPs or arrange for their victory, many would die before the game ended. This was never a choice between whether or not to sacrifice, but a choice of which kind of sacrifice you believed to be less painful.

Of course, it's all moot now. Now that the enemy has shown their true colors, there is no option other than total war.

[ Ciel hesitates, seeming like he'll just stand on his own for a moment, but he takes the offered hand and stands, though he quickly turns to make sure he doesn't look at Mahiru again. He's afraid he'll get sick once more. He won't go looking for bodies again, certainly... He's learned that lesson. ]

She should.

[ He says rather simply, then frowns more. Ciel lets go of Oz's hand, then starts to walk away, since he can't stay here. ]

I won't be able to help though. I'd just get sick again.

[ Nui appears to be....mildly upset upon this discovery. For once, she's not facetiously shocked and sort of impressed to find a body, just. Unusually quiet.

There weren't many humans she could say that she liked, and maybe Mahiru didn't quite fit that description either. And yet, there's an weird feeling of disappointment and resentment welling up in her chest. ]

[ She gives Mabel's arm a little tug to signify following her. Once they reach the food, she lets go of her hand and gets two hot dogs for the both of them, before reaching over to grab some ketchup and mustard packets in her most haphazard manner. The napkins are pretty much an afterthought.

Clash isn't very hungry herself, but she knows that she's gotta eat to get through the rest of this day, considering a lot has to be discussed. ]

We'll eat and then I'll do your make-up. We'll do something different with it this time to make you look even cooler.

[ The kid in the cape and mask jumps up onto one of the tables to make an announcement. He looks ridiculous. ]

Thought of something.

In the rulebook. It's stated that buddies aren't necessarily on the same side. This morning, a pair of them died. Announcement said that no VIPs had been killed. Maybe Mahiru or Dipper had an important role, but either way, they were both innocent. The VIPs went for someone they knew none of 'em were connected to.

If you have a buddy, start thinking hard. They could be a VIP. Maybe you know that, and maybe you don't. But any VIP with an innocent buddy isn't going to want to target them, because they'd die too. To execute VIPs... we might be sacrificing innocent people along with them. And any innocent person who knows they're connected to a VIP and says nothing about is... is technically working against us.

I don't know. It's something to think about.
