dreamland day two 40 players remaining. There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing. The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker. "Rise and shine! Let's have a lot of fun today, or at least all of you who are left!" You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. I saw him, but not enough to really notice anything.

[ Ciel frowns more as he shakes his head. ]

I was more focused on the body. I just assumed that if he did have a partner, it would have happened at the same time. But I guess we don't really know either way.

[ He clicks his tongue, irritated. ]

But if it's not, then it would be someone with one of those keys, wouldn't it? Unless the VIPs are acting during the middle of the day.

[harepiece]

It's possible that one of the VIPs was given a key... But it's equally possible that someone else who had a key just thought that they knew one of the VIPs.

[But that's a huge gamble on life and one that kind of backfired spectacularly on them, so Oz can't say he even remotely approves.]

...The person responsible likely won't come forward if that is the case. And... I would prefer that we won't have to see for ourselves if this matches up with what a partnered death looks like.

[But outside of that - outside of a second buddy death or the actual key-holder stepping forward - he knows that it would be essentially impossible to know with certainty.]

[cheats]

[ That just makes Ciel look more irritated, and he's not quick to respond at all, but it seems like he might agree, at least. ]

How absolutely wretched. I hardly know which of these scenarios I would even hope to be true... They're all terrible.

[ Another click of his tongue, then he shifts his weight on his feet. It seems like he might be using Oz to block his view of the body, if he's observant. ]

[harepiece]

[If there's one thing Oz is, it is observant. He shifts a little in turn to fully block the body from view, but does it in a subtle enough way that it probably just looks like a nervous gesture.]

We'll have to ask around if we want answers, but... I don't think that anyone will come forward. Not even if they aren't a VIP. [Since they're kind of responsible for killing an innocent person and all.]

[cheats]

[ It takes Ciel a few moments to reply, but the effect of Oz blocking the body from view shows as Ciel seems to relax. Even if he's a grumpy, difficult kid that tries to act older than he is, it seems like the sight of a dead body still upsets him. ]

...I agree. It would be foolish to do so, in my opinion. It would harm more than it would help, probably.

[harepiece]

[He definitely agrees with that and nods once, raising one hand to clasp his opposite elbow.]

Mm. The last thing we need right now is more confusion... [Which he's pretty sure is all a note will accomplish.] But we're going to need to do something about this somehow, so that if it is the detonator, we won't have this happening again.

[cheats]

[ There's another pause, then Ciel's voice is quieter. It's not because he's upset, but rather, he doesn't want everyone to overhear and panic about what he says if they haven't thought of it themselves. ]

What can we do? There's no one to protect people from the Detonator, it seems like. So... I don't know what we could do to prevent it.

[harepiece]

[Oz seems to be considering that, but only ends up shaking his head.]

I don't know. It all depends on what kind of person the detonator is and whether or not they would continue to put everyone at risk like this. I'm not sure that there's much we can do...

[ His frown stays firmly in place, but his eyebrows knit together in a way that looks more worried at the prospect. ]

It doesn't seem like it, at least. So... We just have to hope we get lucky?

[ It's a question, because he's uncertain, but then he adds, ]

I don't think just not voting today is a good idea. But I wish there was something more.

[harepiece]

[That's basically what it boils down to, and he knows it, but it still stings to hear it said out loud. Relying on luck alone hasn't really done them a whole lot of good so far.]

I'm still not sure about that, either. [About the vote, he means.] But I don't know if there's anything we can do outside of our vote tonight.

[cheats]

[ He nods in agreement, but it's with a difficult, serious expression. ]

I'm afraid of it, honestly. If we're wrong, then... What does that mean?

[ He doesn't say it, but it's clear form his voice that he's thinking "We're no better than they are" ]

[harepiece]

If we're wrong, then Levi will have a lot to answer for.

[Both outcomes seem bad to him. If Levi is right, then he doesn't really know what he'll do. He feels a certain sense of camaraderie with Legion just by virtue of what he is, and he trusts him at his word when he says that he doesn't want to harm "organics". If it turns out that was all a lie...

On the other hand, if Levi is wrong, they'll have executed an innocent person. Even if he isn't an "organic", Oz still very much considers Legion a person, and he's not ready to have blood on his hands from someone he trusts and likes.]

...But if this is the work of the detonator's key holder, we're already guilty.

[cheats]

[ Ciel nods, though it comes with a heavy, weary sigh. His expression is cool, but there's a regal element to it like he's putting on airs, trying to seem much older than he actually is. It carries in his voice as well, but at least to Oz, he'll probably hear a note of something softer in his voice. ]

...So, really, no matter what, we're going to be murderers too. Does the fact that someone's guilty really make it right?

[harepiece]

[He's quiet for a few seconds at that, but his voice is a little softer, too.]

I don't think that this is a situation where words like right or wrong could be applied. Everyone... is doing what they think is "right", probably, even if others would disagree. ...The path with fewer casualties is the path that everyone would rather take, I think. I know I would. [Even if it means having to execute some to keep the majority safe.] But saying that it's objectively right or wrong... [That, he's not so sure about.

But this is some very heavy conversation and there's a blown up body here that he knows Ciel is uncomfortable around, so with the same softness in his voice, he'll add:]

Um— Have you eaten lunch yet? Sitting down and thinking it over [AWAY FROM THE BODY] might help.

[ Ciel nods in agreement, and is mulling over his thoughts before he replies, because it is a heavy topic, and one that doesn't bring up very pleasant memories. He's trying to sift through his thoughts of a circus, but Oz's question surprises him. There's a moment where that surprise is much more suited to his age, just an innocent look of being taken aback. ]

Er, I—?

[ He looks confused, but some part of him knows what Oz is trying to do here. He composes himself quickly, and though his expression becomes cold to compensate, it's also clear enough that it's just a gesture to cover that moment where his cool had faltered. ]

...Well, I don't have much of an appetite, to be honest. But I believe I would like some tea.

[ Still a pretentious nobleman, though... But this is accepting a friendly gesture, so +1 for the friendship express ]

[harepiece]

[THE FRIENDSHIP TRAIN IS LEAVING THE STATION

no okay actually Ciel won't have to deal with any sparkles this time because Oz is pretty subdued, but he'll at least offer a smile. He can tell he's taken Ciel off his guard a little, but as long as it gets him away from the body, that's good enough for him.]

I've never made tea on my own before, but it can't be that hard! I've seen it done a lot. Do you want to come with me, then?

[oh boy.......]

[ Which he says like it's very generous of him... Ciel, please. But he'll turn away and motion for Oz to follow. ]

I could use a bit of a quieter locale regardless. This won't be too hard.
