40 players remaining.

There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing.

The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker.

"Rise and shine! Let's have a lot of fun today, or at least all of you who are left!"

You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. Somewhere in the park, you'll find the body of Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu.

[As promised, the electronic bulletin board near the main train station has a copy of the rulebook, as well as the following notice: ]

Good morning! As of today, there are 40 players remaining. No VIPs have been killed. There has been 1 opportunity for conversion. The following guest roles are still alive (though we can't promise they weren't converted!):
Detective: Every night, will learn the alignment (guest or VIP) of one player. Will also be alerted whenever there's a successful conversion.

Buddy Cops: Meet at night. Every night, chooses one player to learn the alignment of. Will learn the alignment of that player. If one buddy cop is killed, the other may be able to survive one more day before dying, and cannot be saved. If one buddy cop is converted, they will still attend cop meetings, but their vote will technically not count.

Medical Team: Meet at night. Every night, choose one player to protect from being killed. If a protected player's buddy dies that night, they will survive. If one of the medical team dies, the other may be able to survive one more night before dying. Cannot protect themselves.

Conversion Busters: Meet at night. Every night, chooses a player to protect from being converted. Their protection will extend to that player's buddy as well. If one of them dies, the other may be able to survive one more night before dying, and cannot be saved.

Detonator: Meets at night. Chooses one player to receive a key that can, at any time, detonate another player's guest identification bracelet and kill them.

This morning, Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu is dead. That's all! Have a fun filled day!

[Take your time getting ready in the morning, but eventually you won't have any choice but to look for a body. You won't have to go far to find the victim today; near the north train station, a corpse has been left on the ground.

You can look at the bracelet on the corpse - it flashes Kuzuryuu's name and dorm mascot, but shows nothing else. The body is lying in a pool of blood near the main entrance. There are two bullet wounds in the body's leg, but the actual cause of death appears to have been bludgeoning. The face of the corpse is partially collapsed, as though it was hit multiple times.

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu is no longer among us.]

Bunbunmaru Newspaper, Dreamland Murder Game Special Edition

Season 129, 2nd of Nagatsuki

Bombshell Reveal of Identity and Body
Discovery of first game victim and mysterious detective shocks all!

Day one of the Dreamland game proper begins not only with the first clue from an anonymous detective accusing Mr. Legion of being VIP, but also with the unfortunate find of Mr. Malik Ishtar’s body. As I was not well-acquainted with the deceased, publication of his obituary will be delayed until friends or family or anyone who is willing to write one on his behalf does so. It is noted that Mr. Ishtar was a proponent of the hand-cutting brigade from yesterday afternoon, and, specifically, advocated volunteering Mr. Missile for experimentation. This goes to show that animal abuse will not take us far in this game: a consensus for both VIP and innocent guests, a message that I agree with wholeheartedly and without any personal stake in the matter at all.

Evening brought us our first voting and a bold revelation from the one non-abstainee among us, Mr. Levi.

' I'm the detective. [ ... ] It was obvious during your discussion that no one was willing to trust the anonymous note. If I spoke up before the vote, there's no guarantee that any of you would have believed me. Now at least there's something to back my claim. I was the only person to vote for Legion because I was the only one who knew for sure that he was guilty. '

As of nightfall, we have not received an answering statement from Mr. Legion, but I wish good luck to Mr. Detective and the accused and to us all in unraveling this conspiracy and discovering the truth.

A decent-length article about Ibuki Mioda's dinosaur heritage, which seems to mostly rely on anime character examples of human-dino hybrids, although it completely changes track and starts talking about what cartoon theme songs she likes best, and then discusses how she enjoys hot dogs, with a splotch of ketchup near that part. There's also a photo of Ibuki in a dinosaur costume from the costume shop. Irrefutable proof.

' An Announcement from WARDS (Women of the Anti-Robo-Defamation Squad*): In light of the fact that negative attention has focused on the person calling himself Legion solely due to his status as a mechanical life-form, the WARDS of Legion have rallied to protest this utterly baseless discrimination. It is our hope that by familiarizing our readership with this frankly helpful and kind individual, he may find the friendship he really deserves. Today's Legion Fun Fact is: Legion's metal casing protects many aspects of himself that are important for his continued function and survival! Within his body, there are serving utensils, networks, swords, shields, and many other future words that I forgot. (Sorry, Legion!) The important thing is that he has a lot of impressive abilities that he uses to help people! Today's Featured Friend of Legion is: Ibuki-BFF! (That means 'Best Friends Forever'! :) ) Ibuki-BFF is a pretty and popular girl of 17 and claims to be half-dinosaur. Her notable talent is the ability to be heard from over 10 miles away! That's all for today! (*Everyone is welcome to be included, but PARDS and MARDS aren't real words, so unless you come up with a better acronym, I'm sticking with this one.) '

A twenty page article on the impossibility of human dinosaur hybrids. It's surprisingly biologically sound, though it refers to animals at all times as 'demon beasts,' dinosaurs as 'the demon beasts of long ago, masters of this earth, never to be tamed by the hand of mortal man nor even Gundam Tanaka,' and points to the fact that Ibuki Mioda clearly has mammaries as proof of her status. It also goes off on a long tangent midway through about animes with talking two-legged animal characters and how they are an insult that should never be forgotten.

[ other accompanying stories include Surprise Engagement Sealed With Honeymoon Teacup Ride, Fictive Kinship Increasingly Convoluted, and the usual scandalous photos. that said, the writing differs occasionally to another hand in certain articles. there also seem to be a few more innocent pictures of people smiling, such as Edea and Natalia gaming and Honey and Oz looking proud of their friends, brief genuine snapshots among the gossip. ]

[Good morning park-goers. I hope you're not expecting a peaceful start to your morning. Since Peko is a fairly early riser, and there's a body right near the barracks.

One specific body. That's not all that large, and still looks pretty distinctive even with the face in as poor condition as it is.

Anyone with good ears (or even not-so-good ears) will be able to hear an absolutely heart-rending scream as Peko scrambles to the body, grasping at his hand. There are tears streaming down her face, completely unchecked and probably unnoticed.]

[Royce takes the newspaper as he scratches the back of his head - he slept as well as he could, though he has the suspicion that today will bring even more surprises, if Levi's revelation was any indication.]

Ah, Aya...I, ah, have a question. An important question. About Levi. [A pause, as he glances over the newspaper.] I...asked him the other day to go to you and verify the, er, symbol used on the letter. With you. What I mean is that...did he verify that he was the one who sent the letter? Or has he not met you yet?

He did meet with me. And he did say that he was the one who sent the letter, yes? I won't be revealing the symbol, and I suggest talking to him again if you'd like to confirm it.

[ Legion is so popular in the news! Though its not really sure why, since this was not what it was expecting to be in the paper. It was more logical to have a sound rebuttal or defense, but this, Legion can understand as being a very kind gesture. Geth aren't exactly humbled (or feel emotions period, for that matter), but Legion seems a little pleased all the same. ]

This article is not accurate about our specifications. However, we can accept this inaccuracy. We have not had an anti-defamation squad before.

[ Ibuki's ears are the best of the best! Even though it's a scream, it's a voice she knows, too, so Ibuki will immediately hone in on the source, jogging towards it. Peko's upset, for some reason, and -

[ Oh, right, she's the least useful classmate for this. WHOOPS. Dangan wipeout: 3 and counting. ]

[Well. Hearing someone scream isn't a good sign. He hurries over, if by hurries over you mean slowly enough that he can still sort of pose and glower. But seeing Kuzuryuu's body actually seems to shock him out of that for a moment. His face goes shocked, and then legitimately angry, his voice somewhat choked when he speaks.]

How dare...! How...a thousand times the lives will...

[Whatever he was going to say is stifled, though, since he can't really think of anything to say about it. Of all of them to die, for it to be this one person who was supposed to survive.

And then there's Pekoyama. It doesn't exactly occur to him that he's the only one who knows, but it does occur to him that he wants to help somehow? Helping somehow, that's what the friends who have come to have meaning for him would do in these circumstances. He just has no idea how to do something like that, so he just sort of stands there, waiting for her to do something.]

...I see. So, the letter was definitely his.

[Well, that may be more evidence towards him being a detective. That means, if there is a murder today...then they have to vote for Legion. The detective gets correct information, after all. It was rather lucky, that he identified a VIP on the first day...but if he telling the truth, then they have to trust him.]

I just wanted to know. It helps clear out some...theories of mine. Hopefully he'll have more information for us today...

You have quite the fanbase, Mr. Legion! Would you be open to an exclusive interview, by any case?

We'll see. If he's identified a safe person, it certainly wouldn't be safe to reveal it, for instance.

What theories would these be?

[Sorry Ibuki, Peko is too busy sobbing over Kuzuryuu's body to respond to that. She doesn't even really seem to notice Ibuki. They are so good at this.]

O-oh my goodness...

[Not again...Anna doesn't think she's going to be able to take seeing another body, but...this one was killed in a more brutal way, if that's even possible. That face...

She liked Kuzuryuu too...but judging from Peko's expression, she was clearly close to him...]

[ This would be the part where Kuzuryuu would try to interrupt the Dangan Distress Feedback Loop but UNFORTUNATELY... ]

I-it's not real! Right?! It can't be real, because - all of us -

[Gundam, it is up to you to approach. Peko is busy clutching at Kuzuryuu's hand and getting tears all over Kuzuryuu's chest. Since she can't even bring herself to look at the remains of his face right now.

There is snot running all down her face, too. It's pretty brutal.]

[ THEY ARE HORRIBLE AT THIS. IBUKI, TRY...ANYTHING ELSE? ]

[You know what makes people feel better? Or at least makes her feel better? Food! Belgium is doing the best she can with the canned and frozen food provided, given how little fresh food is available. Anyone who wanders in gets the same question.]

Do you want anything to eat? If it's possible with the ingredients here I can make it!

I was worried that he might be...bluffing. That he might not be the detective. For some strange reason, he would pretend to be the role...perhaps, I thought, perhaps he was VIP? He could easily sabotage the note system, name another person, make us execute them, under the VIP'S plan to eliminate us...other theories I had, yes, suggested he might be protecting the true detective?

Either way, this does seem to suggest he may be the detective...I'll have to see what he says today. If there is a murder, and we vote Legion...and if Legion is truly what Levi says he is, we need to protect Levi. We need to keep him safe.

He wasn't supposed to...

[Peko there was nothing you could do and you know it. But at least having a voice directed at her helps break her out of her personal cryfest, a little.

She's still not letting go of his hand, though.]
