day two

dreamland day two

40 players remaining.

There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing.

The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker.

"Rise and shine! Let's have a lot of fun today, or at least all of you who are left!"

You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. Somewhere in the park, you'll find the body of Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu.

That's gotta be it. Now that the Detonator knows the bomb works, they could give the key to anyone and it wouldn't matter because there wouldn't be a pattern.

But we've still gotta find all the VIPs to win this right? Looking for people who are using this to their advantage isn't gonna help us at all, even if...

[ She trails off and frowns, looking upset. ]

[personal profile] eventhandler 2014-09-26 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Royce threads a thin hand through his unruly mop of hair.]

What this means...what this means is that we can be at danger, any time, any place. As long as the detonator is not found...we cannot relax and just simply wait for whatever happens during the night.

...The detonator is playing a very dangerous game, very dangerous...we cannot assume they are on the side of the ones who are innocent...they are just as bad as the VIPs, in my opinion. What with a spectacle like this...

Yeah exactly. It doesn't matter what we do or who we try to stop, if the Detonator's still alive then we're in an even bigger danger. They're working independently and chances are... they're gonna give keys to the people who they know will use 'em.

Unless Levi can tell us who the Detonator is then we're just mice caught in a trap until we find all the VIPs.

Well...

[ Hearing that, that gets Ciel to think of something, though he says it rather reluctantly. ]

We've been assuming the Detonator was on our side, haven't we? What if that's not the case at all? Maybe they're working with the VIPs too, or they're just working for themselves. We don't know how this works at all, when you think about it, just that these people exist.

[ And the reluctance is fair, honestly. He doesn't want to think it's something like that, but with this... Who knows. ]

[personal profile] fanbase 2014-09-26 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, unless the Detonator lets us know what side they're on then we have no choice but to assume they're working against us, no matter what.

At least... Now we do.

[ He makes an uncomfortable noise, then shakes his head. ]

So there's even more people to worry about now.

It doesn't really help, does it?

[ She sounds sarcastic and even somewhat exasperated. ]

They probably just want as many deaths as they can get in this creepy place so we don't quickly figure out who the VIPs are. Some people's ideas of fun are just plain sadistic.
cheats: (if you wanna make it number one)

[ Ciel is right there with her, so he can't help a sarcastic tone in response, though it gets a bit more upset as he continues. ]

I think that's putting it lightly. And to add further insult, it's like we're working blind regardless. The only person we know anything about is Legion, and even then, that depends on Levi's word. Who really knows? It seems like all we can do is guess blindly.

This definitely isn't Nancy Drew and we barely have any clues to go on as it is. We're probably going to be in the dark until we start seeing a pattern or if Levi really is the detective and he can lead us the right way. If we vote for Legion tonight and he's guilty, then...

[ She's not really sure what happens after that 'then,' but she pretends she does. ]

...maybe we'll have a better advantage.

[ He sighs and shakes his head, but he at least seems to calm down as quickly as he was getting a little upset. It's just terribly... unfair. That's all he can think, because at least at home, he could investigate. Here, there was nothing, it felt like. ]

Maybe so.

[ Though he seems a bit reluctant to say it, he adds, ] So far, that's all we have.
siggey: (but who was zero?!)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-27 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
What makes everyone think that?

[ I've been quietly listening to their conversation up to that point, but something doesn't add up to me. ]

The detonator doesn't choose who to kill. They only pick one person at night and give that person the means to kill someone else. Isn't it possible that they gave it to someone they thought they could trust? They could be just as sacred and confused as everyone else, so they took a chance.

[ Even if that faith has been betrayed... I grit my teeth, my fists clenched tightly by my sides. ]

They still choose who they give the key to and for all we know, they could be giving the key to people who are way capable of using them.

Even if it's someone the Detonator can trust, then that doesn't mean they're still on our side. It just might be that two people might either be working together independently or with the VIPs.
siggey: or two, or an arm, or two arms (could use a hand here)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-27 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
They chose, yeah, but we don't know their thought process behind it. We don't know what the Detonator was thinking, and what influenced their decision. Someone's dead now because of that, but they still shouldn't have anything to do with the actual detonating.

[ It makes me uncomfortable just thinking about it. Was it someone they trusted? Right now... If the Detonator's one of us, 'regular guests', do they feel betrayed, about what just happened? ]

Fuck... And why that kid?

[ I was against him helping us dig, yesterday. I didn't really run into him again after the votes, but teens his age should at least try to get some fun out of the rides. And now, he's... ]

I don't think we should waste time on them until we really know who it is anyway. The VIPs are more important right now and we have a clearer lead against them than we do the Detonator or anyone who's using those keys.

There's not going to be a pattern with it unless they're giving the same person a key anyway, that's probably why they chose that kid.

It's not a waste of time. It may be a stretch, but if the detonator can at least tell us who they gave the key to, then we can question that person and ask them why they did it. They have to be either VIP or someone who thought Sakaki was one. It should be either or.

...What do you mean? You think- they killed Sakaki, just out of a random pick?!
fanbase: (TEEN PREGNANCY)

[personal profile] fanbase 2014-09-27 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Well Malik was probably chosen because a lotta people didn't like him in the first place, but nobody seems to think that about these guys. Why wouldn't it be a random pick? There's 8 VIPs now and someone who had a key, not all of them are going to have the same tactics.

Can you say you're absolutely sure, that whoever who used the key on Yuya is VIP?

[ She shakes her head. ]

How can I be? There's a chance it might be a VIP and an equal chance that it might not be.
siggey: (y u gotta betray tho)

So 50/50?

[personal profile] fanbase 2014-09-27 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's exactly 50/50.

[ She's not going to do that off the top of her head. Math is for nerds. ]

There's thirty-nine of us now and possibly eight VIPs... but everyone has a chance of getting that key, VIP or not.
siggey: can you believe he's gonna be a genius (hnng)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-27 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
That goes back to why. Do you think a VIP has more reason to kill Yuya than a regular guest? As in, there's a higher chance of that happening? Sorry if it wasn't clear, that's what I'm asking.
fanbase: (TEEN PREGNANCY)

[personal profile] fanbase 2014-09-27 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
The rulebook says that the game ends if either the VIPs outnumber us or we eliminate them all, right?

[ She shrugs. ]

So if they're eliminating regular guests as much as they can, then they probably would have a greater chance of outnumbering us that way.
siggey: (memento mori)

[personal profile] siggey 2014-09-27 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, so the odds tip towards the VIP after all. Hard to come up with a reason why a normal guest would use the key on Yuya, otherwise...
