There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing. The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker. "Rise and shine! Let's have a lot of fun today, or at least all of you who are left!" You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. They're very fair regulations, being evenly balanced towards freedom of information and protection of people being reported on. ]

Virtual Intelligence. True AIs are illegal by Council Law.

[ Though there's something, however slight, in Legion's tone that implies that it might dislike that. ]

VIs are not able to gain sentience. They are intelligent programs, but they do not have awareness. An AI has the ability to question their own existence.

Yes. Geth are cited as proof of why AIs are illegal.

[ a pause, then Legion adds, ] A unit asked its creator if it had a soul. The Creators then wished to destroy us. We fought back to protect our continued existence.

You wish to continue existing, like every other living thing. That's only natural.

Entirely hypothetically, would an AI be willing to kill another living thing to protect its continued existence?

Yes. However, we do not wish to incite. We will only respond with violence when met with violence.

We hope so. We wish to live peacefully amongst organics. That is why this unit exists.

Our mission. The primary purpose of our existence was to find Shepard-Commander.
