day zero - afternoon
![]() [Once the announcements are over, there's no further response from the voice over the intercom. The afternoon wears on, demanding nothing more of you. The park will remain open until late in the evening, when the fireworks go off, but you can always go back earlier. In fact, it might be wise to gather your fellow players and discuss what you've learned in the mess hall.] character statuses private conversations This is a mingle following the plot revelations yesterday! Characters can gather in the mess hall and discuss what they've learned and make plans. Night will go up at the same time, and this post will be backdated. |
later, after the hubbub has died down some
For now, information is the most valuable thing we can get. We could uncover something by exploring the park, but there are three people here who can give us foolproof information every night.
They obviously shouldn't reveal themselves, but there are ways they can communicate to the group without giving up their identities. They could easily leave messages around the park, and distinguish each of them in some way to prevent fakes. If they're taking their responsibilities seriously, they could update us every morning this way with two names and whether or not they are VIPs.
As long as they remain alive, it won't take more than three weeks for them to discover the alignment of every person here. Things won't be so smooth and simple, but if the detectives could somehow build a consistent and accurate back and forth with the rest of us, it would be damn useful.

I can think of a couple of ways that they could leave messages around the park, but... [If she says them right here, then anyone would know and the VIPs could make fakes. A dilemma.]
After a couple of nights, they'd have a handful of people that they would know if it's safe to talk to or not. They could make allies of the people who they know can be trusted, somehow.

[There is a brief look of chagrin on her face - she'd definitely forgotten about that...]
No. If we're going to execute someone, we should only do it if we have enough proof. There are... probably going to be days where we don't have any.

If we were successful...it's doubtful subsequent frauds could perfectly reproduce the handwriting.

When it says 'guests' versus 'special guests', what does 'special guest' actually mean? Right above it, it says some of the guests have 'special roles'. So is the ability to identify a VIP or to identify anyone with any role at all?

I think it's much safer to use this to identify the innocent rather than the guilty. Imagine executing someone with a 'special guest' role and finding out that you've killed the protector...

[Then he reaches over to take the rulebook she's reading, snatching it from her without even asking, like a jerk. He takes a second to read.]
The word "alignment" is also there, both times. That should mean they'll learn which side the person is on.

I need that, thanks.
But 'alignment' can be a neutral term, too. Someone is aligned with the special roles - there's nothing wrong with that sentence. Until we get confirmation, it would be impossibly foolhardy to assume.

Not the way they intend us to, at least. ...But if we're going to succeed, we need to at least play along for a little while... It's the best way.

There's no harm in making plans that we may never need.
