dreamland day five 26 players remaining. There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing. The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker. "Wake up! Wake up! It's an exciting buy one get one free day for bodies!" You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. I don't know about the bomber, but it's been suggested before that maybe they have the VIPs families and friends held as hostages! I think that might be a good reason...

So...do you think the bomber is, what, their administrator, of sorts? The one who pulls their strings?

...I hope not. That'd be really scary. Someone like that leading the VIPs...

Indeed. Both...killing innocents. It is, in a word, terrifying, to say the least...

I don't want to be here anymore...everything's awful. The special guests are killing everyone, this bomber is killing everyone, we're killing people because we're scared...

What is the phrase? "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride"...?

As much as we want to, this is...this is a game we cannot so easily escape.

That could be it. If it is, it tells us something about the VIPs — specifically, that they're people with friends and families!

Well...doesn't everyone have friends and family? Or I guess not family, but everyone at least has to have friends! [Legion didn't have a family but he had people he considered he might be friends with......]

But everyone here is really nice, I don't think they'd kill anyone just...just because it's a "game" or anything. They have to have a really good reason...

Oh, uh... well... y-yes, I guess... that would be everyone...

[Simon is really interested in his hands all of a sudden.]

[...Mabel giggles a little, putting on a little smile.]

Well I guess not everyone. Peko, Hiko, Ibuki, Gundam and Mahiru are all friends, right? So with their friends here, you can't hold any of them hostage right? And my brother was here and is...already dead. So he can't really be held hostage either. So don't feel bad!

...Sorry, I didn't mean to be weird about it. I lost my family a long time ago, so that doesn't even compare with what you've all been through.

Oh no don't apologize! This whole situation is really weird and awful...I'm sure everyone's going to be a little weird about something...

[It's a really sad situation too...but Mabel doesn't want to dwell on that, and is sure he doesn't want to either.]

But um...other than hostages, maybe they're being blackmailed? Maybe the people who are running this "game" [Admire her fantastic air quotes there.] have something really, super awful or embarrassing about our VIPs and is holding it over their heads! Like...like what if one of them still wets the bed! Or one of them made counterfeit money in their basement!

Or maybe it's a big cash prize! People can get really scary when a lot of money is involved.

[No that's totally the reason okay. That'd be mortifying!!]

Oooh...I hope no one is like that here just because it's money! But...you know you're probably right. This is a game, right? It'd make sense if a prize was involved...who would play this game for money?

Yeah, I don't even want to think about what kind of ruthless people would do that...

But you agree with me, right? That it's not just survival.

I mean...if it were survival...we could have worked together, right? Nobody wants to die so...we could have worked together.
