As for you, something has happened, though you aren't sure what. There's a throbbing pain in your head, and you can't focus, as though you're coming off heavy pain medications. However you think you should look, you look like a human now. Under the bandages wrapped around your temple, old and smelling like blood, you'll find a recently stitched up scar wound and the inability to focus on your memories. You have no knowledge of how you came to be here; you may even have forgotten certain aspects of your life, or feel confused about them. The fact of your missing memories is obvious, a dark blank spot. Under the bandages around your wrist, you'll find a brightly colored bracelet, decorated with the face of the smiling cartoon animal on your wall, embedded into your flesh. It beeps a merry tune and welcomes you to DreamLand Fun Park. Just then, a voice comes over the loudspeaker.] "Good morning to all of our new guests! The park is now open! We'll get started later, but for now, have a magical day with your new friends! Oh, and there may be a few nasty side effects to your medical condition. But how do they know they've chosen people who will kill? It's not like a lot of people are going to be alright with just "kill people and win."

I believe that those who won't kill when given sufficient motivation are few and far between.

That'd make sense if there was actually a motivation here. Who's dumb enough to look at these rules and think all this is worth killing for?

No, but it's still stupid to assume that these are even real in the first place just because someone said so.

Whoever is behind all of this had the power to kidnap forty people, alter their memories, and trap them here like rats, all without being stopped. You think they couldn't find seven people depraved enough to buy into a sick little killing game?

I never said there weren't any killers here, just that it might be possible the VIPs won't kill. Especially with rules like this.

[ She points to the converting part of the guidebook. ]

You can't just "convert" someone to be a killer that easily, especially if they might choose someone who would refuse it. And how does picking someone even guarantee that they will or won't die? It just looks like there's a lotta loopholes that whoever's using that PA system knows it'll make people paranoid.

Since there's death involved, people are going to be paranoid from the start.

And when push comes to shove, they'll do anything to save their own skins. If these VIPs look like they're winning, then we'll have plenty of people eager to join them. When it's kill or be killed, the choice is obvious. All that's going to matter is which side ends up with the power.

[Royce speaks up next to him, his brow furrowed.]

Are you saying...are you saying that seven of us were already murderers before they came here? That the rest of us, we're just...bait?

[Levi glances towards him with a slight tilt of the head.]

It's possible.

If the seven aren't killers born and bred, then you can at least count on them to have some strong motivation to fulfill their roles. Otherwise there would be no game.

[Royce looks very concerned by that. To think, that he was dragged here, only to be killed by some murderer? After all he worked for...?]

That makes sense.

Do you think these murderers, ah, if they exist, know the one who kidnapped us? Working with them, perhaps?

Even if they are working together, I doubt any of the seven would know something that important.

[He pauses.]

Once one of the VIPs is identified, instead of killing them right away, we could make them squeal. That's a risk they probably wouldn't want to take.
