The weather is chilly but pleasant, and there aren't any lines for the rides - in fact, it seems you have this place to yourself. The entire park appears to have been abandoned some years ago, and though everything is in working order, it is overgrown with plants and seems rusted and unsafe. As for you, something has happened, though you aren't sure what. There's a throbbing pain in your head, and you can't focus, as though you're coming off heavy pain medications. However you think you should look, you look like a human now. Under the bandages wrapped around your temple, old and smelling like blood, you'll find a recently stitched up scar wound and the inability to focus on your memories. You have no knowledge of how you came to be here; you may even have forgotten certain aspects of your life, or feel confused about them. The fact of your missing memories is obvious, a dark blank spot. Under the bandages around your wrist, you'll find a brightly colored bracelet, decorated with the face of the smiling cartoon animal on your wall, embedded into your flesh. It beeps a merry tune and welcomes you to DreamLand Fun Park. Just then, a voice comes over the loudspeaker.] "Good morning to all of our new guests! The park is now open! We'll get started later, but for now, have a magical day with your new friends! Oh, and there may be a few nasty side effects to your medical condition. If you meet someone having trouble adjusting to reality, please be polite!" [In your room, you'll find a small box containing several personal items - no weapons, magical items, or technology advanced beyond the early 21st century, and nothing dangerous, but otherwise anything you would ordinarily find on your person is there. Of course, nothing with cell reception or internet connectivity can manage to pick up a signal. If you swipe your bracelet against the steel door, it unlocks. [In the afternoon, a bell goes off that can be heard across the park, and a voice speaks over the intercom]

"Hello, guests! We hope you've been enjoying your day! Please gather in the Hall of Mirrors right away! You'll find it on the top floor of the House of Horrors funhouse.

[You have a few minutes to wrap up whatever you were doing, but after that, anyone who delays will find that their bracelet is beeping furiously. When everyone arrives in the Hall of Mirrors, a voice speaks up over the intercom.]

"Oh, good! Everyone made it, and there were no casualties. We forgot to tell you that if the security system in those guest identification bracelets of yours are triggered, they'll detonate and take you out with it! Whoops! But now you know, so be careful and listen up once it starts going off."

[The voice pauses for effect, and allows everyone to settle in.]

"Now, I'm sure you're all wondering why you're here, what's going to happen, when your friends and families will notice you're gone, how long your stay is going to be. The truth is, none of those things are a secret! We invited all of you because we wanted you to enjoy the park, and to be the first to test out a brand new game.

First things first! You probably noticed we have to fix you guys a little bit to make sure no one was going to be too much of a problem. We just nipped away at a couple memories and installed your identification bracelets, that's all.

But as we said earlier, we've found out a few of you are experiencing nasty side effects. Nausea, dizziness, vomiting, delusions, that kind of thing. Please be kind to our delusional guests, and it is important for their recovery not to jar them too badly with the truth. Responsible practices are important to us! You'll notice, for example, we've fitted the ones who think they're robots with robot suits, and we've helpfully provided profiles that will explain who everyone thinks they are. If you meet someone who thinks they're an alien, a robot, a time traveler, Belgium, or anything silly like that, do the responsible thing and pretend to believe them.

All right, with the legal notices out of the way, we can get started. You'll notice a ticket box in the corner of the room. Please scan your bracelets, and you'll be provided with your own copy of our rulebook. Go ahead, now!"
