dreamland day three

34 players remaining.

There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing.

The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker.

"Rise and shine! Let's have a lot of fun and look for the bodies, too!"

You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. Somewhere in the park, you'll find the bodies of Dipper Pines and Mahiru Koizumi.

Right, yeah whatever. It's hard to remember everything.

[ She's too focused on seeing Dipper's body and feeling nervous about Mabel's reaction to keep her thoughts on the semantics of all the roles. She tears her eyes away to keep her mind on the conversation. ]

Guess that makes sense. I mean, I don't think he's the detective, but if he's the way to get the detective's findings across then it's a good idea to keep him alive.

Understandable.

[It's hard to look upon the scene of death, but for Royce, it's easy to let his mind wander into the realms of logic and reason instead of focusing on something like this. The last statement makes him raise an eyebrow.]

You don't think he is the detective? [He looks over, looking curious.] How come? Because the dog insinuated Levi, and Levi turned out to be innocent...?

Well, remember how we couldn't believe the anonymous note because it was too hard to figure out the legitimacy of it? What if the detective's using Missile to get their message across because there's no other way to do it?

Even I said that it'd be better if there was a way the detective could show their findings without using the newspaper. Missile just might be the messenger for the detective.

...That was something I had not considered, but there may be...there may be some, ah, merit to it, yes.

Do you truly believe that the first note was truly written by the detective? Because, if so, Legion is a VIP...

It's hard to tell. For all we know, someone could have sent that trying to lure out the detective. The detective laid low and kept watch, listening to what people were saying about needing a better way to communicate their findings.

So, they figured that by using Missile, they wouldn't have to compromise their situation. People like Missile, they're more willing to listen to him anyway.

And in that way, they would continue to be kept secret, and could do their work while the dog poses as them...

...How did the dog figure out who was the detective, however? Did the detective just tell them since there was...a very poor chance they would tell someone else...?

That's probably it. A dog is man's best friend, right? To the detective, that probably means someone who they know won't betray them is the best way to go and who better than Missile to keep loyal...?

[ Her voice has suddenly turned fond for the dog. Even she likes him... ]

Dog is certainly the best friend of men, that I can agree.

[A nod. He likes this theory.]

I wonder how we would figure out who the true detective is, I wonder...?

I don't know. Considering how the only person who threatened Missile isn't here anymore... chances are they're using the fact that everyone likes him as a cover too, but even that just might be an added bonus.

It would be very hard, I think, to bring one's self to vote to put a dog to death...so your statement has some merit.

But yes, our detective...he or she will be well hidden, if your theory is true.
