day six - afternoon
![]() [As the day wears on into the afternoon, the dead aren't getting any deader. It's late in the afternoon, and the air is beginning to cool, when the chimes play again over the park loudspeaker. "All of us here at Dreamland wish you luck, guests! Let's meet up in the Hall of Mirrors!" Wherever you are, it's time to make your way over to the House of Horrors, where you'll have to brave the funhouse to find the room on the top floor. Don't delay, or your guest identification bracelet will begin beeping. The House of Mirrors is a large room, more than capable of fitting a crowd. Tall mirrors line every wall, and the door you entered through seems to vanish into a mirror as well. The mirrors give the impression that many, many more are among your number, standing in the background. In the back is a jar filled with blank raffle tickets. You'll have to take a ticket, write down a name, and place it back in the jar. Hopefully you already know who you're voting for, but if not, you only have time for a brief discussion before you're out of time. character statuses private conversations graveyard Voting will close at 10 PM EST on October 8. |

That is why I, too, am hesitant. But if you hesitate, then won't you name an alternate?

Tamaki Suoh.
[ He lets that linger for a moment, but then jumps into his explanation. ]
We have thought these murders were random, but... I do not think that is the case. Think about those we have lost due to the VIPs' actions— They seem random in a sense, but there is a pattern to nearly all of them. There has been a particular sequence of murders where it is people that know each other. There are those from your class, Fuyuhiko and Miss Koizumi, those from Tamaki's, Kyouya and Kaoru, and with last night, K and Sigma.
I think the last two are a bit of a different case, so with your class and Tamaki's, they were both rather large groups to start, were they not? By simple numbers, it was likely that there would be someone with a role in each. We know that Ibuki was a VIP, so this confirms your class's involvement, at least, but isn't it also just as likely for Tamaki's?
But even beyond that, both groups were friends, from my understanding. Say you were to meet, trusting in your friends that none of them were VIPs and gave information that you thought was inconsequential. I think that is what happened with Mahiru. I believe she may have told Ibuki about her involvement with the buddy cops, as the note we saw told us. So Ibuki was a leak to the VIPs. Similarly, of Tamaki's class, if my guess on numbers alone is correct, then Tamaki, Honey, or Takashi would be a leak to the VIPs. And considering that note that Kyouya got from Mahiru... It is logical that the VIPs would move onto this class, isn't it?
However, I believe that Mr. Tamaki is most likely, unless we are truly underestimating the nature of whatever is happening to the VIPs. The sort of closeness I have seen between Honey and Takashi is not dissimilar from the one that Miss Pekoyama and Fuyuhiko seemed to hold, and I also recognize it, for it is a devotion that my butler shares to me. Were Honey or Takashi to be that leak, that would be a more extreme betrayal of trust. I may be wrong about this, admittedly, but... That sort of bond is beyond friendship. It is a tie of ones' livelihood to the other. As such, I do not suspect them to be a VIP on little more than a gut feeling based on an assumption about their relationship, but...
When faced with the idea of a "leak" in this group, it would seem to me that Tamaki would be more likely. It is numbers and logic, and I may very well be incorrect. But... I have more confidence in this than a note without explanation.
The VIPs are searching for roles, so why not exploit the information they get from their friends to find it? That is... the basis of my argument. And I do not truly know if either group even met to do such a thing, but I also do not know if we will, considering how many have died.

He looks pretty pleased, Ciel. You may have gained some really difficult to achieve admiration.]
That is a well thought out argument, you know. Not bad, not bad at all.
Hm, hm, hm. But your theory has a hole by my understanding. If we believe there to have been leaks among friends, would not the fact that Ootori was not the buddy cop have been one of those leaks? Furthermore, those two you claim to be as Pekoyama and Kuzuryuu...nonetheless, they still have not betrayed one another.
no subject
It does, yes. It is why I have not brought it up before. But... It is difficult to say what is and isn't leaked. It is only my suspicion that this is the case, since when you think of the murders in the context of looking for someone, then there's an element that I'm admittedly missing. But I think Ibuki may have learned something from Mahiru about the buddy cops, which is why she was killed.
As for Kyouya, er— Ootori, he struck me as a rather shrewd person. Even amongst friends, I doubt he would reveal himself as the buddy cop, since he may have come to the same conclusion I had about numbers alone. Though to that, it is only my impression, since I did not know him. Where I come from, I am an investigator of murders, however, so I have some confidence in my ability to judge people.
[ Which is also the first time he's admitted that?? thanks ciel, you jerk ]
As for the two of them, they would be able to speak to their relationship better, I think. Similarly, this is only impressions I have of people.

It's not a big secret, ne? Takashi is my cousin, but his family has served mine for generations. Ah, our families became connected through marriage a while back, but his family served ours before that...?
[ If it's a comment on their relationship, at least, he can clear that up, even if Honey's not...currently touching the rest of it, even if he could add to it. ]
He's my best friend.

I did not know of the full of it, but that was my general impression. The bond between a bodyguard and the person they are to protect is unique. It is a very different bond of trust, which is why I can see it between the two of you, I suppose. It is not different for Sebastian and I.

[ And now it's POINTLESS to keep that under wraps, since it can't...endanger...Kaoru................ ]

...Out of curiosity, if I hadn't had a name, what were you planning to say, exactly?

I would have been content to select Patchouli. In fact, I would assume the reasoning would have been that she is quiet and does not contribute much. But it is better to have others making proposals, is it not? If the buddy cops perished tonight, wouldn't we be lost again?
I won't allow a conversion.

Ah, except...both Mioda and Edea fought for their lives, even if it was only to live another day. Patchouli has no such fight in her. But I do not know if it is a matter of incentive or of character.

[ He sighs ]
But without the buddy cops stepping forward to explain their logic, I have more confidence in my theory. Their logic is likely similar to mine, but they're operating on knowledge we do not know. It makes it a bit difficult to trust, in my view.

It is a conclusion I reached with someone else, though I will keep their identity secret, unless they wish to step forward.
[ He sighs and shakes his head ]
I at least hope that my logic will be taken into consideration, though I do not mean it as an absolute. It is only more probable.

But I do not believe you meant to, much like Ibuki, in truth.

[ ...???? Well, it's Ibuki, so she probably would say she loved them, but. ]
Well, she certainly cared quite a lot about them as well. I do not think you would kill in cold blood, at least.
