I am not at all sure, but, if there is an ending where the VIPs win...and the others win, then there must be a scenario where there is a draw.

A "sudden death" round is also slang for when there is a tie between two players on a, er, sports match. The players play one more game to decide the winner.

So it seems likely that it's some kind of a tiebreaker...but I wonder what that kind of scenario would entail?

I do not know. Either way...it does not sound like a very good scenario. The VIPs could possibly win, if they play their cards right...
