dreamland day zero

42 players remaining.

[Once the announcements are over, there's no further response from the voice over the intercom. The afternoon wears on, demanding nothing more of you. The park will remain open until late in the evening, when the fireworks go off, but you can always go back earlier.

In fact, it might be wise to gather your fellow players and discuss what you've learned in the mess hall.]

This is a mingle following the plot revelations yesterday! Characters can gather in the mess hall and discuss what they've learned and make plans. Night will go up at the same time, and this post will be backdated.

Right! [GOOD GOING SHEBA that's better than a lot of the platitudes that Oz has been telling himself to make himself feel a little more assured.]

If we're careful and watch out for each other, I don't think that anyone should end up hurt. I really don't think that anyone would try to hurt someone else, either, but...

It's better to be safe than sorry.

[Though, uh, she's not sure that no one's going to try hurting someone. Her gaze wanders briefly to Malik, and then she shakes her head. As long as he doesn't have reason to believe that one of the people here is responsible for him being kidnapped...] Some of the people here are a little more volatile than others, but the target of their anger is our kidnappers, not the rest of us. As long as we're careful, we should be fine.

...and there are some of those special roles that help us, not hurt us, right? If those people play along and the ones with roles that could hurt us don't, we'll be doubly safe.

That's right. I think that things will work out just fine that way.

[Except for the whole conversion without execution thing, but. Oz sure isn't going to be voting to execute anyone.]

You can really think calmly in these situations! [Though honestly, he's not freaking out nearly as badly as someone his age probably should be, either.]

It's not the first time I've been in a tough situation.

[Granted, they're not really the same thing at all... the danger here is so very different from the danger she'd faced on Weyard.] Panicking right now isn't going to help, anyway. As long as we stay calm, we'll figure this out. Losing our heads is just going to give them exactly what they want.

[Nodding along! YEAH. Sensible friends in a hard situation sure are impossible to replace.]

They're really doing their best to create a rift already, aren't they? I think that's a pretty big sign in and of itself... [Of what to expect, he means.]

Right! If they didn't want us to get paranoid, they wouldn't have told us about the VIPs. They would have just said that the point of the game is to try to survive for as long as possible.

By confirming that there are seven of us who are supposedly killers, rather than just making it seem as if it's some other outside force, they're trying to make it harder for us to work together.

I guess that sort of thing is what should be expected from people who do this.

["This" meaning kidnapping a bunch of strangers, operating on them and grafting bombs to their wrists.]

...I think that everyone here has the ability to keep themselves from falling into that trap, though.

[Why you gotta be so rude, kidnappers...]

I think so, too. [She grins. It's a little bit forced, but it's better than nothing.] Don't worry, okay? Just take each day as it comes, and we'll be out of here before you know it.

[Rude as hell... He'll manage a smile back! It looks pretty natural, all things considered.]

I will! ...I'm glad that a person as calm as you is here. [OZ IS PRETTY CALM TOO but it always helps to have another person.]

Where do you think we should start, then?

[personal profile] uncoincidental 2014-09-23 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
By gathering as much information as possible. The less we know, the more easily these people can confuse and control us, right?

[She smiles.]

And the more we know about the people we're here with, the easier it will be to tell if they start acting strangely. Then we'll know something's up and we can help them if they need it, without them even having to ask.

[Or, y'know... they could execute them for being suspicious as fuck...]
harepiece: (let me think about that)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-23 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Oz refuses to execute anyone so hopefully some of the more pragmatic members of the group can handle that...]

The information they give us seems like an okay place to start, but it's really impersonal. I guess we'll just have to make as many friends as possible, right?

[Friends.]

[Sheba will execute people if they do bad things first!! For example, if Malik actually kills anyone, she will absolutely execute the hell out of him unless it's the people who brought them here that he's killing... Sorry Malik.]

The more we know of the people we're stuck in this place with, the better. [But she has to wait and let them trust her with their secrets... instead of just prying them out of their minds... she hates that. :c] Besides, people usually don't want to kill their friends, so the easiest way to survive if people start killing is to make friends with the killers.

[...sheba no.]
harepiece: (speak up)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-23 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
[SHEBA?? He seems a little surprised by that logic... How very sketchy!! And he doesn't even know about the intrusive mind-reading thing, wow.]

I think that everyone here will be safe regardless of who makes friends with who.

[At least she's being... up-front about it...]

...I hope that's the case. [She sighs lightly.] And I hope everyone is... social. I'd hate to see someone isolate themselves and then wind up dead because someone cracked and decided, "Well, if it had to be someone, it might as well be someone I don't know."

Humans can be pretty awful sometimes... [SIDE EFFECT OF MINDREADING: you find out that a lot of people are actually legitimately shitty.] But this seems like a pretty decent group of people, so I think we'll all be okay.
harepiece: (you heathens)

[personal profile] harepiece 2014-09-23 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[IT'S OKAY FRIEND, Oz just happens to be the kind of person that doesn't think humanity is an abomination, despite knowing that they can be kind of shitty... But he understands where she's coming from, at least.]

All of the people that I've met have been really nice so far, so I think you're right.
