dreamland day zero

42 players remaining.

[Once the announcements are over, there's no further response from the voice over the intercom. The afternoon wears on, demanding nothing more of you. The park will remain open until late in the evening, when the fireworks go off, but you can always go back earlier.

In fact, it might be wise to gather your fellow players and discuss what you've learned in the mess hall.]

This is a mingle following the plot revelations yesterday! Characters can gather in the mess hall and discuss what they've learned and make plans. Night will go up at the same time, and this post will be backdated.

I agree. We should organize ourselves as a group, not look to one person to lead. It would make that person a target.
edealistical: (Determination)

[personal profile] edealistical 2014-09-22 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
That's right! And not just a target for death - what will we do if our great leader becomes 'converted' as described in the rules?!

I don't think we should have any leaders. What we need is for everyone to be vigilant and alert and to be responsible for everyone else in their dorm! Everyone needs to take responsibility here; we can't dump it all on one or two people and let them take the reins!
photonement: Pointing, frowning, and speaking firmly (Disagreement)

[personal profile] photonement 2014-09-22 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Seconded!!! Leadership is either an enemy ploy for trust or a self-sacrifice!

I will believe in the genuine intentions of you all until I have reason to think otherwise - but organizing ourselves in a way as to be dependent on a person we've never met until today is foolhardy.
chainjailer: (stern pout)

[personal profile] chainjailer 2014-09-22 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Every night, I think we should account for all the members of our barracks. If anyone's missing...
edealistical: (Serious)

[personal profile] edealistical 2014-09-22 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Right.

I'm sure they'll try to get around our plans, but with order and method, we can defend ourselves from any threat. If need be, I would gladly patrol the dorms every night myself!

[personal profile] chainjailer 2014-09-22 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I could patrol too. We need more than one person to keep an eye on all the exits.
edealistical: (Smile)

[personal profile] edealistical 2014-09-22 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure there are others who have experience with this kind of thing. If we all work together, I'm positive that we'll be able to thwart these 'VIPs'.

It's hard to commit a crime when there's 35 people watching!
chainjailer: (leer)

[personal profile] chainjailer 2014-09-23 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
There's ways, but you're right. The harder we make it, the better. Let's see if we can't find a few more people willing to patrol. It's still dangerous, so I suggest people who can defend themselves.
edealistical: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] edealistical 2014-09-23 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. We should find out who has combat experience or anything similar as soon as we can.

...Did they say something about being able to read those things on these?

[She gestures at the bracelet.]
chainjailer: (curious)

[personal profile] chainjailer 2014-09-23 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kurapika nods, holding out his wrist.]

That's right, I was looking at it earlier. You just do this... [And he shows her however it works, but doesn't actually click into the list itself.]

It looks like a few of us know how to fight, myself included.

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-22 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with you. The conversion is also an important factor to take into account, especially if we fall into a habit of not executing anyone. We can find ourselves quickly outnumbered through inaction.
edealistical: (Angry)

[personal profile] edealistical 2014-09-22 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Edea pauses for a moment at that.]

Mrgrgr... It's an intolerable situation! The most rational thing would be to vote every time, it's true.

But even so, it goes against everything I stand for to vote to condemn an innocent to death! It would be a crime as black as simple murder. The situation may change, but... I would almost rather they gain a 'convert' than to execute anyone without due.
jingler: sprite (oh what's the use?)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-22 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel the same. I do not want to kill anybody here at all, but if people begin to die then we will have to begin finding the VIPs as well. However there are so many times we can stay our hand from voting. The VIPs have the advantage in knowing who they are among, but we are walking blindly through the dark. It is unsettling.

[personal profile] edealistical 2014-09-22 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
...At least the first time. To make a guess and have... a 7 out of 42 chance. That's just too low!

Unless our special roles guess correctly.

But after the first time... we'll have plenty of time to discover who these blackguards truly are. In fact, we shouldn't even be waiting.

Everyone should reveal as much as they can about themselves tonight! We need to not be strangers to each other if we're to have any chance of success!
jingler: sprite (far away from the milky teat)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-22 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree...to an extent. As much as I would like for us all to be open and honest, the truth is we cannot afford that when there are seven of us who could have ill intent on our lives. I do not wish to distrust anyone, but it may be safer for now to keep our cards closer to our chests.
edealistical: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] edealistical 2014-09-22 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you don't have to say things like 'I'm mortally afraid of bees' or 'My weakness is fire' or anything. I just mean... we should get a sense for everyone here so we know who's acting strangely or who's being inconsistent about the way they represent themselves.
jingler: ova (but what's the use?)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-22 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Isn't fire everyone's weakness? Even he would probably die in a fire despite the suit.]

That makes sense. Well...I wish I could assist on that front, but I can't. I have amnesia and don't remember anything about myself, not even my own name. It seems whoever runs this game has no intent of letting me know my real name either, as my profile shows the name I gave myself: K.

Hmm...

If the leadership idea wins out, I'd prefer a group as opposed to one person, but a strong alliance amongst all of us would be far more powerful. Hopefully the other can see this.
jingler: ova (steam engenius enough)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-22 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. One person leading us in a situation like this is foolish. It puts too much responsibility onto a singular person and in such a large group there is no guarantee there will be a proper consensus.
chainjailer: (stern pout)

[personal profile] chainjailer 2014-09-23 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
It also puts that leader at the greatest risk of attack. A sole leadership has never worked well in a large group of people, we'll fall apart at the seams if we try.
jingler: sprite (as i was split in half)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-23 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely. Our group is too large and we have little to no incentive to trust each other at this stage. It is unfortunate but if we are to have a leader, it should come at a later time.
chainjailer: (leer)

[personal profile] chainjailer 2014-09-23 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
In the meantime, we'll just have to do all we can to work as a group and make sure no one is hurt.
pundulum: (uhhhhh)

[personal profile] pundulum 2014-09-22 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Umm, I think this makes more sense, too. I mean, other than the VIPS, there's no reason why we can't just work together... right?
jingler: sprite (a mechanical)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-22 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. We must work together, if we are to stop the VIPs. To not work together will only spell our own deaths.
