dreamland day zero 42 players remaining. [You wake up in a temporary barracks set up behind an amusement park. The weather is chilly but pleasant, and there aren't any lines for the rides - in fact, it seems you have this place to yourself. The entire park appears to have been abandoned some years ago, and though everything is in working order, it is overgrown with plants and seems rusted and unsafe. As for you, something has happened, though you aren't sure what. There's a throbbing pain in your head, and you can't focus, as though you're coming off heavy pain medications. However you think you should look, you look like a human now. Under the bandages wrapped around your temple, old and smelling like blood, you'll find a recently stitched up scar wound and the inability to focus on your memories. You have no knowledge of how you came to be here; you may even have forgotten certain aspects of your life, or feel confused about them. The fact of your missing memories is obvious, a dark blank spot. Under the bandages around your wrist, you'll find a brightly colored bracelet, decorated with the face of the smiling cartoon animal on your wall, embedded into your flesh. It beeps a merry tune and welcomes you to DreamLand Fun Park. Just then, a voice comes over the loudspeaker.] "Good morning to all of our new guests! The park is now open! We'll get started later, but for now, have a magical day with your new friends! Oh, and there may be a few nasty side effects to your medical condition. If you meet someone having trouble adjusting to reality, please be polite!" [In your room, you'll find a small box containing several personal items - no weapons, magical items, or technology advanced beyond the early 21st century, and nothing dangerous, but otherwise anything you would ordinarily find on your person is there. Of course, nothing with cell reception or internet connectivity can manage to pick up a signal. If you swipe your bracelet against the steel door, it unlocks. A: BARRACKS

[ Of things that Maya Fey expected when she woke up, being in some strange room with a giant hamster on the wall (a deranged hamster at that), bandages on her head, a bracelet embedded in her wrist, somewhere in a "park" didn't make her list. I've been kidnapped again, not an unreasonable assessment since uh well. She sure doesn't remember coming here, that's for sure (and uuuugh her head hurts trying to think on it, this is lame).

But by who and why? Last she remembers is after Nick got that masked guy acquitted of murder... and got the urn back... and... everything else is vaguely blank. Hopefully Nick isn't being blackmailed into defending a murderer again.

Figuring out the door takes a moment, but she's quickly outside. She's already yanked off the bandages (she didn't bleed so hey she must be fine!!) and looks as confused as, well, everyone else. ]

Nick? Pearly?

[ Who are you people what is happening this is way weirder than her last kidnapping ]

B: CARNIVAL

[ A bit after the initial "what the fuck" of waking up here, Maya starts exploring the park. Mostly she can be found in the carnival area, playing the machines and eating hotdogs, because surely the creepy park's food is 100% trustworthy. This is totally how to find a way out guys, she's nailed it. ]

This food isn't that great... I wonder who made it? [ As she eats it... ]

C: CHOOSE YOUR OWN

[ A solid chuck of the day is spent wandering around, so feel free to find her just about anywhere. Occasionally she pulls out a cell phone, searching for reception with zero luck. Maybe she needs a better wireless plan.

Sometimes she'll also kneel on the ground with her eyes closed like she's trying to do something, and stay there for at least a few minutes while nothing happens. ]

[ She's easy to spot with all the gesturing and common sense suggests maybe to stay away but he finds himself walking in her direction once he's convinced she's probably not possessed. ]

Excuse me. [ She still hasn't moved from the ground and he's no longer entirely convinced he'd been right but he clears his throat and smiles politely, trying not to look incredibly uncertain. A dozen other questions are set aside for: ] Are you alright?

[ If she was possessed, that would actually be an improvement. She opens her eyes and looks up with a smile. ]

Huh? Oh, I'm fine! I'm just channeling. ... Well, or I would be channeling if it were actually working.

[ Getting up, she'll dust herself off (is this ground even safe to be on, that lake over there looks pretty gross). ]

But it isn't so I guess I'm just a girl who sits on the ground right now.

[ His eyebrows lift in surprise at the sudden smile; startled for the moment just before she speaks. She doesn't sound possessed.

Though it still seems like a possibility. ] Oh.

[ But he sounds interested. He twitches like he's unsure whether to help her up or not, finally laughing a little helplessly. ] Has it stopped working, then? Since… [ Arriving here? he hedges, uncertainly, not sounding as doubtful as curious. ]

Well... it wasn't working so great at home, either. Only when I'm in big trouble. [ Or when her boss is. ] But being kidnapped to an amusement park and stuff, that kiiiind of feels like big trouble, you know?

[ Judge away, Anise, this is such a bad idea. But she hasn't keeled over yet, anyway. ]

There's some carnival food stands! Hot dogs, cotton candy and stuff too. It's a little stale though. Not sure how long it's been sitting around.

[ And yet she still eats it... Maya Fey, master of good ideas right here. ]

But it could be grosser, so, hey.

[Well, if nothing else, Anise can use her a poison tester. She's waiting to see if she keels over]

Ohhh, I'm soooo hungry~ Are you sure you didn't find anything less stale?

[ Finally a suitable job for her. ]

Not really... There's food at the mess hall, too, but it's frozen and canned stuff. It's not so bad, if you don't think about it! Just imagine a juicy, fresh hamburger with all the toppings and stuff. Mmmm, and fries to go along with it... chocolate milkshakes with whipped topping and cherry on top...

[ Trailing off into la la better food land now. ]

Ok. So, besides hot dogs we have french fries, soda, ice cream bars... [ She'll list off all the carnival foods and point at them as she does. ] Some of it seems fresher than the other stuff. What do you like to eat?

Hmm... the soft pretzels are good and soft, and the soda's pretty fizzy. Especially the cherry vanilla one! The french fries aren't too bad though there's a few duds in them-- a little over cooked or under cooked. The onion rings are better. The pink cotton candy is better than the blue, also, I think.

[ Maya. Did you eat some of all those things already. It hasn't even been a full day. ]

[Look, a girl's gotta eat sometime. She'll just use Maya as a tastetester forever]

[ Sometime in the last hour or so, probably. Somethings she may or may not have taken a bite of and then put back. Maybe. ]

Huh? No, I just woke up here today. Like everyone else, I guess?

I have not tried their food yet, but their drinks are... [...] ...not superb, but also not bad!

[Mustard isn't a drink, Star. Most-likely-expired mustard definitely isn't a drink, stop looking so happy while drinking it...]

[ Maya has to do a double take to realize, what the heck, is that girl drinking mustard? Does. Does she know she's drinking mustard.]

Yeah, they are... but that's mustard... I've never seen anyone drink mustard before! Usually people just put it on food, like ketchup or mayonnaise.

It tastes very good as a drink, too! [You don't want to know what she orders on her pizza, Maya...] Would you like some? Come, try it!

[Just... holding out the thing of mustard with a straw in it... run while you still can, Maya.]

[ She's not running, but she is pretty sure that sounds waaay too gross. ]

You should check out the soda fountain, it has way better drinks than mustard!
