![]() [You wake up in a temporary barracks set up behind an amusement park. The weather is chilly but pleasant, and there aren't any lines for the rides - in fact, it seems you have this place to yourself. The entire park appears to have been abandoned some years ago, and though everything is in working order, it is overgrown with plants and seems rusted and unsafe. As for you, something has happened, though you aren't sure what. There's a throbbing pain in your head, and you can't focus, as though you're coming off heavy pain medications. However you think you should look, you look like a human now. Under the bandages wrapped around your temple, old and smelling like blood, you'll find a recently stitched up scar wound and the inability to focus on your memories. You have no knowledge of how you came to be here; you may even have forgotten certain aspects of your life, or feel confused about them. The fact of your missing memories is obvious, a dark blank spot. Under the bandages around your wrist, you'll find a brightly colored bracelet, decorated with the face of the smiling cartoon animal on your wall, embedded into your flesh. It beeps a merry tune and welcomes you to DreamLand Fun Park. Just then, a voice comes over the loudspeaker.] "Good morning to all of our new guests! The park is now open! We'll get started later, but for now, have a magical day with your new friends! Oh, and there may be a few nasty side effects to your medical condition. If you meet someone having trouble adjusting to reality, please be polite!" [In your room, you'll find a small box containing several personal items - no weapons, magical items, or technology advanced beyond the early 21st century, and nothing dangerous, but otherwise anything you would ordinarily find on your person is there. Of course, nothing with cell reception or internet connectivity can manage to pick up a signal. If you swipe your bracelet against the steel door, it unlocks. You may now explore your accommodations, or venture out into the park.] character statuses setting This is an IC mingle covering the first day! Night roles will go up Monday at 4 PM EST, but you are welcome to continue to thread here once that happens. Make sure to follow any updates on plurk! |

LENGA WILL MAKE SURE KOIZUMI DOES NOT DISPROPORTIONATELY HOLD THAT OVERSIGHT AGAINST KUZURYUU... this algae is thick as fuck anyway.Koizumi stretches her neck to peer through both the algae and the weeds.]And if they did work, where would we take them, anyway? This looks like a lake... What we'd want is a river or something. Did you see if the fence was still somewhere on the other side of the lake? It looks like it's just within the park.
[SOUDA SURVIVED THE WHOLE DAMN GAME ONLY FOR THIS TO HAPPEN, THOUGH?? SERIOUSLY? SHE'S GONNA SUE]

...shit.
[Well now he feels stupid, wtg, Fuyuhiko. You clearly thought this through all the way and totally didn't just see boats and zero in on that. GOOD JOB, DUMBASS.]
I didn't...check that yet, no...

[She takes a big step back - not turning on her heels, because first she's going to take one of her handy dandy pictures of the whole lake. With a wide lens. All these algae and weeds have cast a lot of shadows or something; a big exposure is what she needs. She takes the shot, apologizing mentally to Kuzuryuu if the flash gets in his eye.
She lowers the camera. This is when she finally notices that he has something on his face. Her observation is immediately obvious on her face; mouth twisted into a thin line, her multiple functional eyes big and wide. To cover her several seconds of palpable silence--]
You know what I... just realized? That darn locked clubhouse could be where the remote controls are!

[He noticed that awkward pause and the look on her face. He's...not quite sure how to respond to it though. Ibuki was easy enough to get off the topic of what happened to his eye, but somehow he doubts Koizumi will drop the topic if he just lets her wear it. So clearly the best course of action is to just not talk about it at all.]

There are rides that light up when we walk near them. If that can happen, some of this technology should be wireless. Outside of a place like that... the controls might have been taken out of this park altogether? I think these are the only boats, so if they knew the algae infestation was going to get this bad... [Koizumi braces herself with one hand on some kind of railing, but it's got too much dirt for that to be comfortable, so she turns to lean against it by the hip instead.]
I dunno. These locked buildings look way less predictable than the monobeasts.

Well I didn't mean it like...in the sense that it's too far away to be physically possible so much as, wouldn't that make it kind of obnoxious to operate? Like...thinking about when this park wasn't a completely rundown shithole, I mean. You wouldn't want the controls to be too far away that you couldn't see what you were doing, right? I guess it's possible that whoever took over this place after it closed moved them for...some reason before bringing us here. But why bother? Why not just destroy them entirely?
[He turns his head to glance back over at the boats, sighing a little bit.]
Either way, it doesn't really matter if, like you said, this really is just a straight up lake with nothing feeding into it. It won't help us get out of here. The only way this lake would be useful for that is if there's some kind of tunnel underwater. [Giving that algae-infested water a mildly disgusted look lord knows what lives in there do we REALLY want to go swimming around to try and find an underground tunnel that probably does not exist?]

[Her headache is only getting worse. She can't imagine how bad his must be. Since he was so much more severely damaged in transport, that's why they put him onto sedatives or at least Solanax... it all fits together.]
I didn't have either of my school trip swimsuits in my box of stuff, so I'm not going in there yet. There's probably no getting around the log flume, though, so I'm gonna check that out.
[She's certainly not about to invite Kuzuryuu onto it with her. He might shove her off. She's done pretty well if she says so herself on the "no fighting" front. With that shrug of hers, she prepares to walk away.]
See you. [That's probably inevitable, unfortunately. All they've learned in this increasingly technical discussion? The circle seems closed. They're stuck together.]

It's gotta be locked for a reason. That seems as good as any to me. Maybe I'll head back over there and see if I can't break in...
[Kuzuryuu, no...]
Ah, right. Before you go, I think it's a good idea if we all meet up later to discuss what we've found. Just our class, I mean, not everybody fucking person here.

[Walking away for realsies now. Minimum required interaction with surprisingly businesslike yakuza heir complete.]
