42 players remaining.

[You wake up in a temporary barracks set up behind an amusement park. The weather is chilly but pleasant, and there aren't any lines for the rides - in fact, it seems you have this place to yourself. The entire park appears to have been abandoned some years ago, and though everything is in working order, it is overgrown with plants and seems rusted and unsafe.

As for you, something has happened, though you aren't sure what. There's a throbbing pain in your head, and you can't focus, as though you're coming off heavy pain medications. However you think you should look, you look like a human now. Under the bandages wrapped around your temple, old and smelling like blood, you'll find a recently stitched up scar wound and the inability to focus on your memories. You have no knowledge of how you came to be here; you may even have forgotten certain aspects of your life, or feel confused about them. The fact of your missing memories is obvious, a dark blank spot. Under the bandages around your wrist, you'll find a brightly colored bracelet, decorated with the face of the smiling cartoon animal on your wall, embedded into your flesh. It beeps a merry tune and welcomes you to DreamLand Fun Park. Just then, a voice comes over the loudspeaker.]

"Good morning to all of our new guests! The park is now open! We'll get started later, but for now, have a magical day with your new friends! Oh, and there may be a few nasty side effects to your medical condition. If you meet someone having trouble adjusting to reality, please be polite!"

[In your room, you'll find a small box containing several personal items - no weapons, magical items, or technology advanced beyond the early 21st century, and nothing dangerous, but otherwise anything you would ordinarily find on your person is there. Of course, nothing with cell reception or internet connectivity can manage to pick up a signal.

If you swipe your bracelet against the steel door, it unlocks. You may now explore your accommodations, or venture out into the park.]

[ A little boy in a homemade costume stares up at the... robot... warily. ]

Okay, but take off the costume.
jingler: sprite (as i was split in half)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-21 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
[The wary stare is understandable so K doesn't take mind to it. That comment however...]

This isn't a costume. What you're wearing is more accurately a costume actually. [That aside.] As for your request - I cannot take it off.
chronic: (who's the chosen fool)

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-21 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Fine. Can you at least tell me who owns this place? You're the only mascot I've seen.
jingler: sprite (oh what's the use?)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-21 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, so that's what he thinks. Again, understandable, though K regretfully lowers his head.]

I'm not a mascot either. I awoke here the same as you just some time ago. I know as much about this place as you do.
chronic: (i will transform)

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-21 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Okay. So you're just tryin' to ride rides and have a jolly old time...

[ Though somehow none of this is weird to him. ]
jingler: sprite (a mechanical)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-21 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
[He nods a couple times.]

Yes, a "jolly old time" indeed. I wish to take full advantage of this amusement park and all of the amenities it has to offer. Would you like to accompany me on a carousel ride?
chronic: (the tragedies we know unforgiving)

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-21 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ Go on the carousel with a robot in a toga after waking up with a head injury and an elephant bracelet embedded in his flesh???

Yeah, okay. Weirder stuff has happened to him. He nods. ]

Sure. Guess it couldn't hurt. [ It's not like he gets to go to these kinds of places often. ]
jingler: main art (i was born in the factory)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-21 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
Excellent! You go select one of the animals to ride on and I'll prepare the ride to start and join you soon after.

[Even with his robotic voice, he sounds incredibly excited for this fun ride.]
chronic: (to receive god's eternal graces)

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-21 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
[ This is so, so weird. Mysterion selects one of the smaller horses and nimbly lifts himself onto it, sitting stiffly. ]

So like, what's up with the toga? You got any underwear on under that thing?
jingler: sprite (as i was split in half)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-21 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
[K preps the ride to start, giving it a short delay so he has enough time to pick an animal. He goes for one of the larger ones, hoping it isn't too old to hold what he imagines is his heavy weight.]

Well I am wearing underwear underneath this suit if that's what you mean. The toga I have nothing to do with, but I admit it has grown on me. It's very..."stylish" in my opinion.
chronic: (life's worth living)

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-21 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ Under the suit... huh. Maybe it's some kind of armor...? He said it wasn't a costume... ]

Haha. You didn't pick it out yourself?
jingler: sprite (you cheered)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-21 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
I did not. It was already attached to the suit when I woke up inside it.

[As he finishes the carousel jolts slightly and begins to move, the carousel tune beginning. It sounds incredibly disturbed however because of old the machinery is, but that doesn't stop K.]

Ha ha ha! [If his voice didn't already sound monotonous, his laugh sounds almost completely artificial.] How exciting. We're moving!
chronic: (where there's no space or time)

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-21 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Oh god the poor guy. He's clearly trying to enjoy himself but it sounds so... robotic. ]

Yep. That's sort of what these things do.
jingler: cg (well I acted once right but naturally)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-21 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Wheeee! This is so much fun! Though I wish it was a little faster. Oh I wonder if we could get our picture taken on this ride.

[Don't feel sorry for him, he's having the time of his life right now.]
chronic: (that it all rewinds and erases)

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-21 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Haven't you ever been on one before?
jingler: ova (but what's the use?)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-21 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[He takes a couple deep breaths, trying to calm down a little from all the excitement, so he can answer the question.]

I'm not certain, but I suppose that may as well be the case. I have amnesia you see and I can't remember anything about myself - not even my own name. So for me, this really is the first time riding on this.
chronic: (but please keep my mind asleep)

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-21 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
...Huh? Are you serious? [ He slips from his horse a little as he turns to stare. ]
jingler: ova (steam engenius enough)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-21 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. But this is an ongoing problem that came from before I even awoke here, so it wasn't caused by our kidnappers if that's what you're thinking.

[Because with all the head injuries around, it's an easy misconception to make.]
chronic: (who's the chosen fool)

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-21 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
You think we were kidnapped?

[ He frowns. Well, that's probably it, but the term has such an unfortunate connotation... This place may be run down but it doesn't seem TOO sinister. ]
jingler: ova (but what's the use?)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-21 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course. I cannot think of any other way to describe it. Waking up in an unknown location, with a head injury of some sort at that, with dozens of strangers. Unless some people agreed to come here of their own will, as that could always be a possibility.
chronic: (the tragedies we know unforgiving)

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-22 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe it's some sorta social experiment.
jingler: ova (to answer anything you need)

[personal profile] jingler 2014-09-22 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Social experiment? Interesting. I hadn't even considered the possibility. Bringing a large group of people to an abandoned amusement park...perhaps they wish us all to bond with each other and become friends then.

[That's a much nicer thought than what K considered -- that being it's yet another death trap.]
