![]() [You wake up in a temporary barracks set up behind an amusement park. The weather is chilly but pleasant, and there aren't any lines for the rides - in fact, it seems you have this place to yourself. The entire park appears to have been abandoned some years ago, and though everything is in working order, it is overgrown with plants and seems rusted and unsafe. As for you, something has happened, though you aren't sure what. There's a throbbing pain in your head, and you can't focus, as though you're coming off heavy pain medications. However you think you should look, you look like a human now. Under the bandages wrapped around your temple, old and smelling like blood, you'll find a recently stitched up scar wound and the inability to focus on your memories. You have no knowledge of how you came to be here; you may even have forgotten certain aspects of your life, or feel confused about them. The fact of your missing memories is obvious, a dark blank spot. Under the bandages around your wrist, you'll find a brightly colored bracelet, decorated with the face of the smiling cartoon animal on your wall, embedded into your flesh. It beeps a merry tune and welcomes you to DreamLand Fun Park. Just then, a voice comes over the loudspeaker.] "Good morning to all of our new guests! The park is now open! We'll get started later, but for now, have a magical day with your new friends! Oh, and there may be a few nasty side effects to your medical condition. If you meet someone having trouble adjusting to reality, please be polite!" [In your room, you'll find a small box containing several personal items - no weapons, magical items, or technology advanced beyond the early 21st century, and nothing dangerous, but otherwise anything you would ordinarily find on your person is there. Of course, nothing with cell reception or internet connectivity can manage to pick up a signal. If you swipe your bracelet against the steel door, it unlocks. You may now explore your accommodations, or venture out into the park.] character statuses setting This is an IC mingle covering the first day! Night roles will go up Monday at 4 PM EST, but you are welcome to continue to thread here once that happens. Make sure to follow any updates on plurk! |

[ Maybe if someone came with me... ]
Would be weird if it was that easy to break out though, especially if they've gone out of their way to kidnap us. This doesn't look like any sort of abandoned warehouse where the government may be conducting human experimentation, so it could be worse.
[ I shrug, taking solace in what I've just said. ]
Not really. These things look cheap, but how they seem practically attached to our wrists already hint at how well they're really made. If it's backed up by solid programming, it shouldn't be too hard to make it beep around certain areas in addition to any attempts at taking it off. These are probably remotely controlled, too.

There are quite a few locked buildings here. Maybe that's where our captors are hiding. Unless the remote control works over a really long distance so they're completely safe from us?

[ I haven't really paid much attention to the watch other than knowing it won't come off, it beeped in a really disturbing way, and it looks tacky. The rest of the amusement park totally distracted me. There was a lot to explore and see! ]
Or they could have satellites or other signal-boosting devices planted all around. Kind of like an old wireless modem, to keep the signal strong anywhere in here?

According to this there are about forty of us. It looks accurate, so whoever did this probably had data on us way in advance... what kind of organization would have so much power?
no subject
[ I probably should take a look at mine soon, though. I strain over to see which pictures are scrolling through the girl's phone, my hand still in my pocket. ]
What's it say? Name, age, height, and... what's that last one?
no subject
[She's landed on Tamaki now and either the print is very small or else, god help them, the screen is scrolling.]
Some of us are more equal than others, it looks like... I feel bad for just being a photographer.

[ I try to focus back on the girl since I don't think I want to keep reading that, but it's hard to stop frowning at the bullshit I'm going to pretend I didn't actually manage to catch through skimming. ]
Photography is a perfectly legitimate skill and discipline. You're a lot more normal and easier to talk to than Aya, too.
[ She wasn't a bad girl, but having a straight conversation with her... ]
no subject
[She trails off at that, thinking about the late great Byakuya Togami, and then flushing at his compliment.]
I'm just less fashionable than Aya-chan... besides, she's got such a nice analogue-looking camera, she'll be able to print out pictures here. Mine's just a digital. I dunno where I'm supposed to get anything developed.
no subject
[ I shrug, pulling back to stand straight again. ]
You can get your pictures developed once we get out of here. Quality stuff takes time, right?

[ No offense to her, but if she's that flighty in conversation, I don't have much faith in her written articles. She probably only does tabloids, anyway. ]
Since you're manually marking stuff down, can't you erase them for space once you're done?
[ Now THAT's a good idea! ]
You should definitely do that too! That's what you're SUPPOSED to do with a camera in an amusement park. Have a picture of you taken coming down a roller coaster drop, and taking picture of girls in their soaked shirt after the log flume!

I could delete stuff, I'm just a little scared if they change things around. But you're right that it's probably the best way. Some of this is definitely redundant.
Do you work with computers or anything, sir? [His profile said... something... like that... not that she completely memorized his name yet.]
no subject
Delete when you need to? Besides, you just need to keep those copies close to you for reference, and make sure no one else can mess with them.
--Oh yeah, I'm Sigma, and I know a bit of coding, but nothing big. What's your name?
[ I mean I'm taking classes about this in college, but it's nothing special. ]
no subject
[Did she just? Yes she did]
At least my room's locked. I'm gonna be putting my camera in the box at night. Did you have any handy gadgets with you?
no subject
That should work. I didn't test the locks yet, but maybe I should. And nope, they took everything from me when they got me, didn't even get to keep my favorite watch.
[ I sigh, not bothering to look at the flashy yellow bee currently attached to my wrist in its stead. ]

Roles, right. ...How many do you think have roles, among regular guests?
before conVERSION smh
...
I think there are eight for now, at a minimum, the way I read it. So... even our special roles outnumber the special guests.
would you like for me to delete and edit?
Yeah, you're probably right. I wonder why it still says 'meets' for the detonator, though. Does the guy just... sit by themselves in a room and consults a mirror or something?
no subject
Maybe "meets" is this term they have to use to, like, indicate that the role leaves their room. And the detective doesn't?
no subject
...Huh, yeah, that could be it. The detective just learns the alignment, according to the rulebook. Doesn't look like they get to pick, so that's a pretty solid theory.
I wonder how that goes down. Do they just get a slip of paper, like from a fortune cookie?

[ I'm pretty serious when I say that. ]
Anyway, if you don't have a better idea, I'm going to stick to it.
