![]() [You wake up in a temporary barracks set up behind an amusement park. The weather is chilly but pleasant, and there aren't any lines for the rides - in fact, it seems you have this place to yourself. The entire park appears to have been abandoned some years ago, and though everything is in working order, it is overgrown with plants and seems rusted and unsafe. As for you, something has happened, though you aren't sure what. There's a throbbing pain in your head, and you can't focus, as though you're coming off heavy pain medications. However you think you should look, you look like a human now. Under the bandages wrapped around your temple, old and smelling like blood, you'll find a recently stitched up scar wound and the inability to focus on your memories. You have no knowledge of how you came to be here; you may even have forgotten certain aspects of your life, or feel confused about them. The fact of your missing memories is obvious, a dark blank spot. Under the bandages around your wrist, you'll find a brightly colored bracelet, decorated with the face of the smiling cartoon animal on your wall, embedded into your flesh. It beeps a merry tune and welcomes you to DreamLand Fun Park. Just then, a voice comes over the loudspeaker.] "Good morning to all of our new guests! The park is now open! We'll get started later, but for now, have a magical day with your new friends! Oh, and there may be a few nasty side effects to your medical condition. If you meet someone having trouble adjusting to reality, please be polite!" [In your room, you'll find a small box containing several personal items - no weapons, magical items, or technology advanced beyond the early 21st century, and nothing dangerous, but otherwise anything you would ordinarily find on your person is there. Of course, nothing with cell reception or internet connectivity can manage to pick up a signal. If you swipe your bracelet against the steel door, it unlocks. You may now explore your accommodations, or venture out into the park.] character statuses setting This is an IC mingle covering the first day! Night roles will go up Monday at 4 PM EST, but you are welcome to continue to thread here once that happens. Make sure to follow any updates on plurk! |

We are called Legion.
[ Short and simple. The light shifts as if looking at him, then continues, ]
Your model is not recognized. What is your manufacturing origin?
no subject
I do not know my manufacturing origin, as you put it. My name is K. Legion...are you a robot or a person inside a robot suit?
[May as well ask outright.]
no subject
[ There's a pause, and the plates around his head twitch and shift in a way that seems curious. ]
You speak of a person in a robotic shell. Is that what you are?
no subject
[Much like how multiple monitors can be plugged into the same computer system. At least he assumes.]
And yes you are correct. I am trapped inside this suit with no way of escape as of now. Though your confusion earlier was more than understandable.
no subject
[ Though with the first topic addressed, the light spins and focuses, and Legion steps closer as if to get a better look at K. ]
We do not comprehend. Did your suit malfunction?
no subject
[So this is an AI more advanced than Zero III, who is a singular entity that is in control of the warehouse functions. It sounds like a highly advanced Chinese Room Experiment. Programmed decisions and reactions based on accumulated data from elsewhere.]
The suit has a lock on it, on the back of the neck area. A key is needed to open it, but I do not have that key. I was locked inside while in my sleep.
no subject
[ Though at the mention of a key, Legion will just try and look and see it if he can! ]
That is an unusual predicament. Has recreating the key been investigated?
no subject
Unfortunately no. Recreating a key without an existing key present is difficult, if not entirely impossible. For the time being I am stuck in here. But there is no need to worry, as the suit is surprisingly well-built. Whoever designed it had livability in mind.
So, tell me, do you want to be referred to as 'Legion' or 'Geth'
no subject
We will process the design. We cannot guarantee that we would be able to model the key, but it can be run as a background process.
[ Legion is a helpful Geth, after all! And it's honestly just kind of curious. It takes a step back, not answering the question posed immediately, and seems to consider it. ]
We are Geth. But we are also Legion. When Shepard-Commander asked for the name of this unit, we could not give one. The VI onboard the Normandy suggested Legion. "My name is Legion," he replied, "for we are many." Mark 5:9. We found it to be an acceptable metaphor.
no subject
[He nods.]
Thank you Legion. You have my gratitude for the offer alone. If there is anything I can do for you in return, please let me know and I will do my best to be of assistance.
no subject
[ Which is Legion's way of saying it likes its name... Good job naming the pet robot, EDI. ]
All we need is to restore our software. There has been modification to our systems. We cannot perform a system restore outside of the Geth networks. [ a pause, then Legion adds, ] With systems restored, we will be able to disable the fence.
