day four - afternoon
![]() [As the day wears on into the afternoon, the dead aren't getting any deader. It's late in the afternoon, and the air is beginning to cool, when the chimes play again over the park loudspeaker. "All of us here at Dreamland wish you luck, guests! Let's meet up in the Hall of Mirrors!" Wherever you are, it's time to make your way over to the House of Horrors, where you'll have to brave the funhouse to find the room on the top floor. Don't delay, or your guest identification bracelet will begin beeping. The House of Mirrors is a large room, more than capable of fitting a crowd. Tall mirrors line every wall, and the door you entered through seems to vanish into a mirror as well. The mirrors give the impression that many, many more are among your number, standing in the background. In the back is a jar filled with blank raffle tickets. You'll have to take a ticket, write down a name, and place it back in the jar. Hopefully you already know who you're voting for, but if not, you only have time for a brief discussion before you're out of time. character statuses private conversations graveyard Voting will close at 11 PM EST on October 3. |

You wouldn't accept a volunteer though, would you?
no subject
...I wouldn't be putting my vote in for them, at least.
no subject
[ Which he's pretty sure Oz does in fact know, but he's stressing it all the same. ]
no subject
I still can't accept that this needs to be looked at as something involving "winning" or "losing". Even if they get to pick someone else, that's still one life that would have been lost in trial today. ...But I won't say that others should or shouldn't vote the same. There are a lot of drawbacks.
no subject
That's putting it rather lightly. Since even if we do pick someone, we can't just truly pick, or else we'd risk killing two people.
[ He grumbles to himself ] If there's no one put forward, we lo— [ Though considering what Oz just said, he changes his mind on the word. ]
...We wouldn't be successful today either way.
no subject
He offers a little grateful smile, though it falters at first. Nothing about this situation is very smile-worthy, but he'll at least show his appreciation for the fact that Ciel's taken his opinion into consideration while speaking.]
You aren't wrong. I don't think that just selecting someone at random would be a good idea either way. A volunteer would be a little more acceptable, but... ["not by much", basically.]
no subject
None of the options are acceptable. But it seems like our options today are limited.
no subject
They are. [Which is exactly why he's choosing the one that he thinks is best out of a bad set; to condemn no one, not even a volunteer.]
...What will you do?
no subject
[ But Ciel answers simply: ] If someone wishes to volunteer themselves, then I'll likely choose them. But I also won't pick randomly.
[ Since if they all picked randomly, then it wouldn't matter anyways, since it wouldn't be a majority. ]
Voting for no one is irritating at this point. It feels like just allowing ourselves to be killed. But... I also won't simply send someone to the gallows without them agreeing to it.
no subject
Mm. [It's an affirmative noise that's accompanied by a nod, since honestly, that's the sort of answer he had been expecting to hear from Ciel.] Even though all of our options are limited and bad, I don't think that's a poor decision.
no subject
We'll see, I suppose.
[ Ciel pauses, looking vaguely irritated, then adds: ]
So long as it isn't boats, your judgement is fairly good, at least. So I'll consider your argument.
no subject
Usually my judgment with boats isn't bad, either! [is that the truth though probably not.] ...But thanks.
no subject
It's not as if there are better options. [ baka!!! ]
no subject
Mm... We'll just have to keep looking until we find better ones, then.
no subject
Hm. With how things are proceeding, I can only wonder.
[ francis aggressively z-snapping in the distance ]
no subject
We'll see, either way.
