day three - aftermath
![]() As the voting period comes to an end, a bell goes off from the ticket machine, and the metal bars blocking the tunnel at the end of the Hall of Mirrors lifts. A voice speaks over the loudspeaker: "Attention, guests! Please make your way onto the ride! For your safety, keep your hands and arms inside and do not attempt to leave your seat!" Through the tunnel, single cars on a track stop and wait for each remaining player to step on. Don't dawdle, or your bracelet will begin to beep a warning. Once in a car, the safety bar locks you tightly inside, unable to move. The car trundles along a dark, twisting track, nearly veering into cartoonish obstacles, but veering away at the last moment. Music and cackling laughter echoes loudly through the ride as you drive faster and faster. Suddenly, your car veers off to the left, through a courtroom, where a towering cartoon judge threatens to bang a gavel. Your car jerks and evades, but somewhere, before one car can pass, the gavel comes down and the car spins off to the side, through a dark doorway. Each car comes to the end of the ride, but doesn't stop, and instead jerks into motion and, even faster, veers through the ride a second time. This time, your car does not enter the courtroom, but the doors to your left nonetheless open, showing instead of a courtroom a red room burning with cartoon flames. Above the flames hangs a corpse in a noose. The body of Edea Lee hangs from a red rope noose, as a cackling voices pronounces: Guilty! The ride turns away once more, and comes to a stop. A list of votes has been posted on the wall. You now have the rest of the evening to explore the park, before night comes again. One more thing: because of the successful execution of a VIP today, you now have a chance to vote for a MVP. MVP vote character statuses private conversations graveyard This is a general post-vote mingle encompassing the time from the end of the trial (about 5 PM until the fireworks at 11 PM). You are encouraged and welcome to backtag discussions in this post until the next day post, or to have afternoon private conversations. |

[ That's the key, isn't it? Even if they win this game, those who've died are never coming back. They can't forget them.
Natalia crouches down and picks up a picture of Mahiru cooking up lunch for everyone when they were too distraught to for themselves. ]
Mahiru... She was kind and thoughtful. Even when I told her I wasn't a very good cook, she still let me help her. Even though there were so many of us, she took the time to make food for us.

[ It gets him to smile fondly, even if his voice is soft and mostly humorless. It's just a weary smile, since it's been quite a day. ]
I've never cooked for myself before. I have a serving staff to attend to such things, but rather than think much of it, she gladly let me have what she made and just... helped me. I suppose I hadn't realized just how little I knew how to do until coming here.

[ Her voice is soft. She usually doesn't like to admit that something so common is beyond her, but in this case... Natalia goes quiet for a moment to gather her thoughts. ]
Just because she's gone doesn't mean we can give up and feel sorry for ourselves. We owe her that much. [ She puts the picture back down and stands back up. ] Tomorrow, I'll be making lunch for anyone who wants it. You're welcome to help, if you'd like.

Well, I doubt I would be of much help. The last time I tried to do something on my own in the kitchen, I did start a fire... [ He admits it without launching into a big tsun rage, good job ciel ] But I can try.
[ Which is about all he can offer, really. He looks to Natalia, at least lightly curious since she's brought it up, in a way. ]
You're a princess, right? I noticed it on your profile, though you haven't asked anyone to really address you as such, I've noticed. Should I?
no subject
No. Please continue calling me 'Natalia'. In a place like this, titles and ranks mean nothing. That I am a princess makes my life no more valuable than anyone else's here.
[ She'll give him a curious look too, because even if she didn't remember the profiles exactly, his mannerisms and the way he spoke of having service staff was familiar. ] You're a noble yourself, are you not?
no subject
Natalia, then. I had been meaning to ask, but... There hasn't been much time for such conversations here.
[ Ciel shrugs, since he'd rather not get into that topic again, so— ]
But that's correct. I am an Earl, though only recently made so. I've scarcely gotten used to being called the Earl of Phantomhive at all, so I would not insist upon a title either.
no subject
An Earl? [ That prompts a sudden thought which makes her giggle. ]
I see now why Anise was so interested.
no subject
...Let me guess. Money? There is only one reason people are so immediately interested in me.
no subject
Don't worry, it isn't just you. She's been that way since the day I met her, clinging to the arm of my then-fiance. It was infuriating! [ There's a slightly fond if exasperated smile on her face even so. ]

[ Ciel sighs more heavily as he shakes his head, but he's actually sort of pleased to hear of someone else being engaged, he finds. He was starting to feel weird that he was apparently the only one. ]
I told her I was already engaged, but she didn't seem to want to listen.

That's Anise for you. [ Then her smile turns slightly coy. ] Although... you two are the same age, aren't you?
