day three - afternoon
![]() [As the day wears on into the afternoon, the dead aren't getting any deader. It's late in the afternoon, and the air is beginning to cool, when the chimes play again over the park loudspeaker. "All of us here at Dreamland wish you luck, guests! Let's meet up in the Hall of Mirrors!" Wherever you are, it's time to make your way over to the House of Horrors, where you'll have to brave the funhouse to find the room on the top floor. Don't delay, or your guest identification bracelet will begin beeping. The House of Mirrors is a large room, more than capable of fitting a crowd. Tall mirrors line every wall, and the door you entered through seems to vanish into a mirror as well. The mirrors give the impression that many, many more are among your number, standing in the background. In the back is a jar filled with blank raffle tickets. You'll have to take a ticket, write down a name, and place it back in the jar. Hopefully you already know who you're voting for, but if not, you only have time for a brief discussion before you're out of time. character statuses private conversations graveyard Voting will close at 10 PM EST on September 30. |

[He laughs, but he doesn't seem in the mood to actually come off as light-hearted.]
I expected this. Well, I would not begrudge you a battle for your own life. But know this. If you ask me whether I could make beasts my tools and use them for my own wicked ends, if you ask me whether I could reveal myself as enemy and betrayer, the answer is yes! I have never hidden my nature! I have never attempted it.
But Missile...his desire to protect the humans here is true. It is his own heart.

...But I believe what you are saying is that what I propose is a possibility. I promise you this - my desire to save the ones here is equally true. That has always been and always will be my greatest desire, as long as I still draw breath.

Do you not comprehend that as magnificent as he is, he is nonetheless a dog? Missile would not have known about the note in the paper. He may have not even understood the nature of Levi's claim that night. I did explain to him, in the morning, when he showed curiosity about the newspaper that Levi had revealed himself as our detective.
It may be that it was only then that he knew.

Even if he did, you're saying Missile isn't intelligent enough to understand Levi... but he was intelligent enough to leave Aya and K those clues on his own without prompting? I would say the latter requires critical thinking and problem solving abilities, which are higher levels of cognition.

He also may not have understood why Levi claimed detective, or that he ought to be suspicious of it. But he came to understand and make himself known. Incidentally, those pictures were from the paper which I had shown him.

The fact that he did not ask for clarification seems to be objective fact. Whether he was converted or not, he did not ask.

Missile...he attempted something difficult for him. He brought those pictures to K. He must not have known how to play his role, but wanted to stay safe to better protect us...it was those he brought the pictures to who failed him. They failed to understand. And until it had been long enough in the trial, Missile could not have realized they would not speak.
Once he realized, he acted and put his own life in danger to save Legion.

Let's return to the beginning.
Scenario 1: What I proposed originally. Missile heard Levi's claims, was aware of them, and chose to investigate. He found Levi was innocent, and yet persisted in a course of action that led to Levi's death. His actions would be most questionable in this case.
[She comes from fantasyland so animals understanding humans is not that weird to her unfortunately.]
Scenario 2: Missile did not understand Levi's claims as you suggest. The next day, you informed him, as you say, at breakfast, when we were all locked in together. Rather than immediately taking action, he chooses instead to bring the pictures to two individuals and waits until the end of the trial to speak. I admit it could be as you say - however, a dog is not a patient creature. I should think that the moment it was realized that the two individuals had failed to speak, he would choose to protest. But there was a palpable delay... It cannot be denied that Levi did not have an ample chance to speak on his behalf, not as I did today.

Do you mean to lecture the great Gundam Tanaka on what a dog is? As though each one possesses the same emotions, the same innate traits! You may as well claim the tribes with the most powerful jaws are sure to bite! You fool, your ignorance disgusts me.
A dog may show patience beyond any possessed by a human. It is possible for a dog to wait in a solitary position for an entire day, if you so willed it! A dog that is friendly may approach, but a dog who is wary may hide and only slowly allow himself to be lured out.
Your argument has no merit!
