dreamland day three 34 players remaining. There are no clocks in your dorm room to help you mark the passing of time, but at a certain point, in the early hours of the morning, a cheerful chime tune plays over the loudspeaker. Whether you're awake or asleep, the door to your dorm room is now unlocked. You'll have about a forty five minutes, in which you can get ready or grab some breakfast, before the door that allows you into the park unlocks. By this time, you may or may not have noticed that one of your number is missing. The chimes play again, to announce that the park is open, and the rides and music begin to come back to life as a voice plays over the loudspeaker. "Rise and shine! Let's have a lot of fun and look for the bodies, too!" You will have until 4 PM to explore the park and talk amongst yourselves. No, I was prepared to be a target when I announced and started distributing my newspaper. There would be considerably more benefit to killing me than her, or the majority of others here. That's just a fact.

[Well, this is awkward.]

[To say that Royce is good with people would be a lie. He isn't. But this is not something he can exactly just stand and watch impassively. The feeling of losing a sibling...Royce believes it must be unimaginable.]

[He approaches quietly, reaching out a hand to her shoulder, his frail voice level:]

This...isn't a place for you. [A pause.] I'm sorry...I'm sorry for your loss.

To throw us off? Maybe they take it in turns to attack their victim of choice? Who can say.

A brave child.

[Oh, looks like Mr. Dark Lord is going to be a little solemn.]

The regard humans have for their young is...interesting. My own kind are far colder, you know. And I have tamed species who will even devour infants alive.

But a brave child, who does not tremble, but instead seeks to assert himself as our ally...to take such a life is cowardice. They wish to wipe out the ones strong enough to try to save us, while the rest hide in fright.

[No. This is a younger kid. Like, not even high-school. She's a foreigner, and young enough that Peko approaches and quietly switches to her first name.]

Mabel.

[One of the two who'd been so adamant about helping her find Kuzuryuu's murderer, it feels wrong to just leave her like this. But Peko's definitely not going to be the one to pull her away from the corpse. She's just going to... put a hand on her shoulder. Yes. That's super-comforting. You go, Peko.]

...That was something I had not considered, but there may be...there may be some, ah, merit to it, yes.

Do you truly believe that the first note was truly written by the detective? Because, if so, Legion is a VIP...

Well, it is a group...perhaps each night, one member is responsible for the murder? They do not all murder together...

But it was speculated yesterday that two people--or more--participated in killing Mr. Kuzuryuu.

...No. We can't let this continue to that end.

[The end where they're all murdered by a bunch of people who apparently have no qualms with killing a child, that is. His gaze is still fixed on his hands in his lap, but he's trying to temper himself for Ciel's sake. He isn't the one who just got sick over the sight of Mahiru's corpse, so he has to be the one to hold it together.

At least if he keeps that in mind, it gives him a goal and a reason to hold it together.

He'll eventually stand after another second or two, holding his hand out to help Ciel up.]

...She should be buried as soon as possible. [Not immediately, though, since he knows some people will want to look for clues, and he's also not as close to Mahiru as he's sure her classmates are (EXCEPT THEN THERE WAS GUNDAM)] We can't let all of these deaths be in vain...

It was. It would be impossible for one person to hold a gun, and...crush someone's head...

[He lets out a soft "hm".]

...But I assume the bodies were not found together? If you say you only saw Mahiru's body...

It's hard to tell. For all we know, someone could have sent that trying to lure out the detective. The detective laid low and kept watch, listening to what people were saying about needing a better way to communicate their findings.

So, they figured that by using Missile, they wouldn't have to compromise their situation. People like Missile, they're more willing to listen to him anyway.

[uncoincidental]

I hate them. The people who chose him to die, and - the people who put a child into this situation in the first place.

[Her voice is shaking, but after a moment she takes a breath to steady herself.]

He was strong and brave... we should all have been like him. They can't kill all of us... Not if we all keep trying.

Mr. Pines must be elsewhere. I'll look and... take pictures of the scene. [ just. not at the moment. ]

[ She keeps her distance, twisting her hands together without knowing what to say. What if that was her dad there? What would she expect to hear? She doesn't even want to think about that...

So, she waits nearby for some time until Mabel feels like coming over to her. She doesn't think there's a way to get her mind off Dipper anyway. ]

[cheats]

[ He's looking away shamefully as she unties that ribbon, but when she offers it, Ciel stares no less than incredulously, as if he doesn't believe that the gesture would be offered at all. His face turns a little red, since he's humbled by this gesture. It gives the impression that Ciel almost isn't used to this level of kindness.

Ciel wipes at his mouth with his (thankfully gloved) hand first, since he doesn't want to ruin her necktie completely, but he takes it to brush away those hot, almost painful tears at the corners of his eyes. He lifts up his eyepatch, and Peko will be able to see the eye underneath, though there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it. It's closed, however, which implies there might be something about the eye itself. He's quick to cover it back up, though, and though he coughs again, since his throat is irritated now, he'll speak softly. ]

I'm sorry— She's your classmate, not mine, but...

[ It hit him pretty hard, and in a way that's difficult to explain. ]

[ineptus]

[She appreciates the gesture, no matter how small and awkward it may be. But she just shakes her head, squeezing the body tighter.]

N-no! I sh-should stay by his s-side! Th-that's...w-we're twins...we're supposed to stick by each other...

I-it's not fair! [It is comforting! Not as comforting as, say, a hug would be, but she's not even fully there to realize if she's getting a hug or a hand on her shoulder yet anyway.]

And in that way, they would continue to be kept secret, and could do their work while the dog poses as them...

...How did the dog figure out who was the detective, however? Did the detective just tell them since there was...a very poor chance they would tell someone else...?

That's probably it. A dog is man's best friend, right? To the detective, that probably means someone who they know won't betray them is the best way to go and who better than Missile to keep loyal...?

[ Her voice has suddenly turned fond for the dog. Even she likes him... ]

[It may be a while, Clash. She just wants to curl up and hide. She just wants to hide in her sweater and never come out again. She didn't want to be in this place without Dipper, and yet here she was.

When she finally does, however, Clash will likely immediately notice the girl wearing his hat and vest, clutching an odd and old looking journal in her arms. She isn't looking up, so she doesn't so much as see the other girl as she does run into her.]

S-sorry...

["At least he'll be in the Country", Royce wants to say, but something tells him that she wouldn't understand that. It's the right statement to make in Cloudbank, back home, but here...?]

[He lets out a sound that sounds like the mixture between a sigh and a huff.]

I understand. However...no good will be done from staying here, I think...

We cannot afford to.

[THEIR NUMBERS ARE DECREASING RAPIDLY.]

Dipper Pines was killed in the same way, in a separate location. Perhaps the fact that though they were buddies, their bodies were not left together, is important.

[Ding dong, classmate's body means clue hunting.

Not that it's probably of any help at all. It didn't really help last time.]

Dog is certainly the best friend of men, that I can agree.

[A nod. He likes this theory.]

I wonder how we would figure out who the true detective is, I wonder...?

Alright. We will have to find and...investigate. As best as we can.

[He turns to close his door, putting the newspaper under his arm, giving Aya a nod.]

[ She doesn't seem to care that Mabel's bumped into her, she just looks down at her. Clash isn't very good with kids, so she's not sure what to do with something like this... even after seeing Ibuki losing her classmate yesterday. ]
