day two - aftermath

dreamland day two 38 players remaining. As the voting period comes to an end, a bell goes off from the ticket machine, and the metal bars blocking the tunnel at the end of the Hall of Mirrors lifts. A voice speaks over the loudspeaker: "Attention, guests! Please make your way onto the ride! For your safety, keep your hands and arms inside and do not attempt to leave your seat!" Through the tunnel, single cars on a track stop and wait for each remaining player to step on. Don't dawdle, or your bracelet will begin to beep a warning. Once in a car, the safety bar locks you tightly inside, unable to move. The car trundles along a dark, twisting track, nearly veering into cartoonish obstacles, but veering away at the last moment. Music and cackling laughter echoes loudly through the ride as you drive faster and faster. Suddenly, your car veers off to the left, through a courtroom, where a towering cartoon judge threatens to bang a gavel. Your car jerks and evades, but somewhere, before one car can pass, the gavel comes down and the car spins off to the side, through a dark doorway. Each car comes to the end of the ride, but doesn't stop, and instead jerks into motion and, even faster, veers through the ride a second time. This time, your car does not enter the courtroom, but the doors to your left nonetheless open, showing instead of a courtroom a red room burning with cartoon flames. Above the flames hangs a corpse in a noose. The body of Levi hangs from a white rope noose, as a cackling voices pronounces: Innocent The ride turns away once more, and comes to a stop. A list of votes has been pinned on the wall for your perusal. You now have the rest of the evening to explore the park, before night comes again. character statuses private conversations graveyard This is a general post-vote mingle encompassing the time from the end of the trial (about 5 PM until the fireworks at 11 PM). Oh, you didn't forget! [ eyeing those food items and looking mildly pleased. well, it's no expert sundae but she can't really expect delicacies out of this place, so it'll do. ]

The yogurt all looks awful and healthy. I could make this taste better if you're OK with a bun instead.

It shouldn't have gone that way, though, Nui-chan. And I don't even mean lynching someone innocent, when that stops a conversion.

[ ....oh boy, a morality chat. Nui honestly can't be half-assed to understand why y'all get upset over a couple of humans dying, but for the sake of her precious sundae she will pretend to not be as much of a sociopath.... ]

[Surprisingly, Nui is in for something a little different than anger that they killed Levi. Mahiru chops the banana in half with a kitchen knife.]

We stopped trying to figure out who killed Kuzuryuu. Or even Sakaki.

Oooooh, you mean everyone got so mad at Levi, they didn't try to find the actual killers.

[ propping her chin in her hands, humming in thought ]

Yeah! I mean, he basically tried to kill Legion - by the way, he's not even actually cleared which is gonna be a huge pain in the butt - but somebody shot Kuzuryuu, and smashed his face in, and then somebody else blew up Sakaki and we didn't even talk about that, like, at all! The detonator might give out another key tonight!

Do you think Legion really is a VIP? [ she can't really tell, herself. how irritating. this whole game of guessing was irritating, honestly. ]

Bring it up at the next trial if you're so incensed. I'm sure whoever dies then will have their friend there give a biiiiiig bawling fit, and you can come in and say, 'hey! the mystery is still unsolved!'

Personally I don't, [think it's Legion] but I'm just saying, it might turn out like that. We can't be sure, just like we couldn't be sure that Levi was acting that way because of--well.

What we're gonna have to do is think about who's dying, and why, and what we can do about that. I want everyone to have Ishtar and Kuzuryuu and Sakaki in their thoughts, you know? And figure out which one of us killed them. The easy way out is lynching whoever's the most distracting douchebag. The hard way is the evidence.

[A strong word for a strong soldier. Now she's drizzling on the syrup.]

I dunno what that dumbass was thinking. Did his plan benefit literally anyone? He even got himself killed, so it wasn't for him.

Connect the victims to their killers, huh...why would they get rid of Mr. Eyepatch? [ why are you even calling him that you wear an eyepatch too you brat ] Maybe he was getting too close to figuring something out; he seemed pretty pragmatic.

He thought there had to be a lynching at some point if we weren't gonna all get converted and he knew he himself didn't have a power role...? [Mahiru doesn't agree either, not to mention she scowls briefly at the epiphet but wipes the expression away]

But converting him would have been a really good strategic decision, so I gotta think they just wanted to convert someone else even more, maybe for personal reasons.

They'd sacrifice a beneficial ally for a friend? [ looking unimpressed ] In a game like this, you shouldn't let personal feelings interfere in your survival strategy. I hope it was a better reason than that!

The glasses girl who was crying over his body? [ letting out a shriek of amused laughter ]

Yes, her. You think they have any chance of converting her now? She's trained as hell; if she's doing this heartlessly, we might as well give up on any reasoning because we're all just freaking mind control puppets or something that level of bad.
