dreamland day zero 42 players remaining. [You wake up in a temporary barracks set up behind an amusement park. The weather is chilly but pleasant, and there aren't any lines for the rides - in fact, it seems you have this place to yourself. The entire park appears to have been abandoned some years ago, and though everything is in working order, it is overgrown with plants and seems rusted and unsafe. As for you, something has happened, though you aren't sure what. There's a throbbing pain in your head, and you can't focus, as though you're coming off heavy pain medications. However you think you should look, you look like a human now. Under the bandages wrapped around your temple, old and smelling like blood, you'll find a recently stitched up scar wound and the inability to focus on your memories. You have no knowledge of how you came to be here; you may even have forgotten certain aspects of your life, or feel confused about them. The fact of your missing memories is obvious, a dark blank spot. Under the bandages around your wrist, you'll find a brightly colored bracelet, decorated with the face of the smiling cartoon animal on your wall, embedded into your flesh. It beeps a merry tune and welcomes you to DreamLand Fun Park. Just then, a voice comes over the loudspeaker.] "Good morning to all of our new guests! The park is now open! We'll get started later, but for now, have a magical day with your new friends! Oh, and there may be a few nasty side effects to your medical condition. If you meet someone having trouble adjusting to reality, please be polite!" [In your room, you'll find a small box containing several personal items - no weapons, magical items, or technology advanced beyond the early 21st century, and nothing dangerous, but otherwise anything you would ordinarily find on your person is there. Of course, nothing with cell reception or internet connectivity can manage to pick up a signal. If you swipe your bracelet against the steel door, it unlocks. ....have you heard about any kind of amusement-park related accidents in China?

Ummm...I don't really. Do you?

Well there was this one accident on a space ride that was all over the news a couple of years ago, but I'm thinking more on the lines of something that'd get an amusement park shut down. Remember what I said earlier about someone wanting revenge for an accident they were involved in? [He shrugs]

[ineptus]

Hmmmmm....

[Mabel crosses her arms, giving this a lot of thought clearly.]

What if...what if some maniac came in? What if he came in and just opened fire on the whole crowd! Just BLAM BLAM BLAM!! Killed everyone!

Or one of the rides broke down! Like one of the big rides! Or...

Or something...

I think if someone came in and shot everyone down there'd probably be blood and white tape everywhere. [Maybe they'd clean it up but by the looks of this park, he's betting they wouldn't.]

I guess the park could've been shut down because of a ride malfunction and they didn't have money to fix it but I don't know.. I feel like there's something BIGGER involved, y'know?

[And then he lets out a gasp and covers his mouth, giving Mabel a bit of a terrified look.]


...what if this has something to do with the Chinese mafia?! [That being said in a whisper.]

I don't know, the maniac seems like a pretty likely theory.

[Nod nod. But oh wait what.]

The Chinese mafia?! But...what would they want with a couple of kids like us?!

[He takes her shoulders and shakes her a little]

Don't you remember the kinds of trouble Grunkle Stan has gotten himself into before?! He's wanted in like, ten different countries!

[ineptus]

But...

[Dipper, don't say something like that. Your sister is not liking where this is going.]

Grunkle Stan wouldn't let this happen to us if it was his fault, r-right? I mean you saw him fighting off those zombies...I-I think he'd protect us from the Chinese mafia too...

[His terrified and stressed expression softens at her words, and he drops his gaze to the ground.]


...but if we were kidnapped while he was sleeping......

After a moment, she puts her hands on his shoulder and shakes him just a little bit, just to get him to look at her. And she's smiling.]

It's okay. He's going to realize we're gone and he's going to start looking for us. And he's going to find people to find us. So...so even if we're involved with the Chinese mafia or the Italian mafia or whatever mafia we'll be just fine. Plus, we're here together! As long as we're together nothing can get us!

[She's clearly pretty terrified by this idea too but that's not going to get them anywhere, right?]

But how are they... [He stops his thought there, knowing it'd only scare both of them more. And instead, he shakes his head to try to not think about it anymore.]

Yeah, we'll be fine as long as we stick together.

[ineptus]

They just will! Come on, we're Pines! Grunkle Stan is a Pines! He'll find a way.

[Here, hand holding? She thinks holding hands will help.]

[terci]

[Hand holding is totally okay and totally something Dipper needed right now.

He nods quietly.]

Grunkle Stan always finds a way.

[Kuzuryuu has at least some discretion after all. Settling on a theory similar to Ibuki's that he was damaged even more than the others in transport... she continues frowning, turning away to gauge the distance of the clubhouse.]

There are rides that light up when we walk near them. If that can happen, some of this technology should be wireless. Outside of a place like that... the controls might have been taken out of this park altogether? I think these are the only boats, so if they knew the algae infestation was going to get this bad... [Koizumi braces herself with one hand on some kind of railing, but it's got too much dirt for that to be comfortable, so she turns to lean against it by the hip instead.]

I dunno. These locked buildings look way less predictable than the monobeasts.

Mahiru, and I'm afraid not.

[She touches the tender spot on her head, bandage stained so red it almost blends in with her hair.]

I just woke up, and there was the watch, and... I don't remember anything at all for hours before that.

[Still frowning, she shuffles over to fetch two styrofoam cups for them.]

[...she doesn't even know what to say right now. Dipper isn't cheering up, and she really isn't either when she thinks about it, and this whole situation is scary...

The hand holding quickly turns into a hug, Mabel burying her face in Dipper's shoulder. She doesn't know what else to do.]

[Mahiru squints at the model of the stove because I have not made oatmeal in so long]

With something like this, ninety seconds should probably be enough. [That may be short but IT'S INDUSTRIAL GRADE and with the injuries they have, cold food is less of a risk than a burn. As it so happens, that length of time is not much longer than Lacie's song itself!]

[When she hugs onto Dipper and buries her face into his shoulder, he stands there for a moment, not knowing how to react. He usually doesn't see Mabel so worked up or scared in situations like this, and it's really obvious to him that she's scared now.. it's mostly his fault, too, for all of the weird theories he's been talking about all day..

He quietly wraps his arms around her back, and lets out a very small sigh, followed by a very small voice.]

...I want to go home.

[ Unless his name is pant pant wag, Sigma is probably not getting an answer out of him. ]

Oh... [That was probably in a less creepy amusement park so she's going to hold her applause]

Uh, yes, duh? I've been slogging to school in this kind of thing for three years, why would I stop now.

[She just squeezes him at that small statement, fingers gripping his vest a little now. Mabel manages a small but shaky laugh.]

D-don't...don't say stuff like that, Dipper. This is the mystery of the century, r-remember? We can't solve it...i-if we go home...

These are... skills or talents.

[She's landed on Tamaki now and either the print is very small or else, god help them, the screen is scrolling.]

Some of us are more equal than others, it looks like... I feel bad for just being a photographer.

Oh, I guess it's kind of different for everyone then... There are some kids from another high school who came together too, for a while I thought we might all be in little groups of five or so.

Okay, it's time to say something and cheer her up. It's his fault his sister was scared and going to cry, and it's going to be his fault that she cheers up! At least a little..


So, he reaches up to her shoulders and gently pushes her back so he can get a good look at her, a small smile on his face.]

You're right, Mabel! This is the mystery of the century, and we can't just leave it be. [He reaches with his hand to wipe a tear off her cheek.]

Besides, everything we've been talking about has just been theories and speculations, we're probably just... on a game show or something!
