day three - afternoon

dreamland day three 34 players remaining. [As the day wears on into the afternoon, the dead aren't getting any deader. It's late in the afternoon, and the air is beginning to cool, when the chimes play again over the park loudspeaker. "All of us here at Dreamland wish you luck, guests! Let's meet up in the Hall of Mirrors!" Wherever you are, it's time to make your way over to the House of Horrors, where you'll have to brave the funhouse to find the room on the top floor. Don't delay, or your guest identification bracelet will begin beeping. The House of Mirrors is a large room, more than capable of fitting a crowd. Tall mirrors line every wall, and the door you entered through seems to vanish into a mirror as well. The mirrors give the impression that many, many more are among your number, standing in the background. In the back is a jar filled with blank raffle tickets. You'll have to take a ticket, write down a name, and place it back in the jar. On word of what? Sticking up for an animal when someone's threatening to chop their paw off? Versus attempting to vouch for one's life when said animal claims to have evidence of their guilt.

Seeing it in action doesn't mean I have a bleeding heart, it means that I'm willing to stick by the side of someone I trust no matter what.

Edea will smile a little as she ruffles Missile's head briefly, hesitates... and gives him a small hug.]

Trust is one thing--I can understand trust. But we've been here for four days. How much trust is that if you are going die? I feel as if I'm talking in circles, here.

I know, but maybe they're... possessed! By evil spirits! And don't know what they do at night! How else would they convert people?

[ Maya may just be arguing for the sake of it, because she knows her objections are weak. She just doesn't want to believe anyone among them is truly so evil. ]

So if you're wrong about Legion, then you would give up? Even knowing that your death would mean three nights in a row of executing an innocent?

I wouldn't necessarily call that 'betrayal' either. If he is, beyond all doubts, the detective, unveiling the VIPs is his role. What I am trying to get at is that it's hardly fair to condemn someone for arguing for their life, calling them out on "betraying" their accuser.

Like I said, I've seen it in action. I know what it's like. I know the people I trust aren't going to accuse me and will stand up for me as much as I'll stand up for them.

[ when the deadline grows closer, Patchy does not stand up on a table as per tradition, but rather raises her voice. ]

Our deadline is creeping upon us. Edea has made a fine stand, but what is the consensus here?

He's not making any vocal objections, even if he looks a little bit unhappy. ]

We do not have much in the way of choice.

[Peko looks thoroughly exhausted; she hasn't been participating in most of the discussions, though she has been listening. She doesn't move from her spot against the wall, and though her eyes are closed, it's pretty obvious there are some dark bags under them. It really doesn't look like she's slept at all since before Kuzuryuu's murder, really. Her voice is low and steady, and she doesn't open her eyes as she speaks.]

By executing Lee... there is a chance we remove a VIP from the playing field, and confirm that Calamity's Dark Blade is indeed the detective. By executing Legion... nothing is gained. Levi's foolhardy actions proved that the first note is useless.

Or we take the coward's route, and do nothing. And the VIPs are free to kill again, without fear of consequence.

Yeah... I just wish there was a better way to stop them.

As Pekoyama says. We necessarily must vote, and nobody is more likely to be a VIP than Miss Lee.

We... we have to choose Edea. That's pretty obvious, right?

[ Natalia selfishly wants to believe in Edea. Because she's the first person Natalia met here, and they even played carnival games together to win prizes for the sake of defeating the VIPs.

It feels so unreal that she could be a VIP herself. But... Natalia listens intently, and forces herself to try and think things through. No matter what, she doesn't want to execute another innocent. ]

... But what about the Buddy Cops? Once Missile made his claim as the detective, surely the first thing they would do is check to make sure he was telling the truth, especially after we found out that Levi was in fact innocent. If their results showed he was a VIP, they would have spoken up immediately.

...If we vote for Edea, we'll have confirmation for Missile one way or the other. I don't really want to use someone's life for something like that, but if we vote for no one, then the VIPs can convert again, and we at least have some sort of evidence for Edea.
